Should the oil pressure gauge fluctuate with engine RMPs?

New owner of 93 250, looking for some good sites

I recently purchased a nice clean, low mileage 2005 Quad Cab 4x4. This is my first Cummins although I jumped on the diesel bandwagon back in 1973 with a Mercedes sedan. Since then, I bought new a 1985 Ford 6. 9L 4x4, a used 1994 Ford 7. 3L Turbo 4x4, and finally a used 1996 Ford PSD 4x4 now driven by my younger son in college. It has 4. 10 gears and with the Banks package is no slug.

During my life, I have seen the price of diesel go from pennies a gallon to $3. 60, and now feel proud to pay only $2. 49.

I am really impressed with the MPG these trucks get especially when considering the power that the Cummins makes. As well as the comfort in the cockpit. Pickups have come a long ways from the '51 Ford PU that we used to drive on my high school buddy's grandfather's farm.

Well I just recently joined the diesel badwagon, on tuesday morning actually. . What has amazed me so far is how quickly the truck is loosening up. . Now with almost 600 miles, the turbo is spooling much faster, the acceleration seems to come much easier, and the fuel economy is picking up quickly! My only concern, and I am sure it is a direct result of my inexperience with diesels, is that it feels like the torque converter is slipping during acceleration. . I am seeing the RPM's remain reletively constant, while accelerating from a stop. . The only explanation I can think of is that the converter slips a bit. .

Lot of issues with the torque converters, bottom line they are junk. I can't wait to replace it with an aftermarket unit. Welcome to TDR

Hey fellow Parkerite. Welcome to the TDR. I live out in the Pinery and have had my truck almost 3 years now. 124K and it is going strong. What color is your truck and I will keep an eye out for you.

Three Parkerites in a row :--) :--)
