In Alaska we have asphalt roads and studded tires that ruin these roads. The studs make grooves in the road especially where folks stop and start out again. Stop signs and stop lights etc. I just recently put my summer tires on Michelin LTX which are about half wore out. The truck is empty and I have used this brand of tires for years. Not a problem. Now I notice the just before I stop slow or just move ahead a bit in traffic I get this wandering squirmy feeling at the steering wheel. Never had this before. At first I thought a loose wheel but not a issue . My power steering fluid is right on the mark. Ball joints appear ok .Air pressure good . What and where do you think the problem lies. Is my power steering pump wearing out? Ideas please. I'm a proactive kind of guy and like to fix problems before they happen. Thanks for any thoughts

Another way to describe it is my front end feels heavy. Going forward and backwards. It wallows much like when you have it in 4 w drive on bare pavement only less

Year? 2WD/4WD? If it's old enough, suspension bushings could be well worn. Track bar could be worn. Tie rod ends could be worn. Steering gear sector shaft bearing could be gone.

Have someone rock the steering wheel with the engine off while someone else watches the tie rod ends and the track bar for any movement up and down or any slop anywhere
