is there a bigger wastegated HX35 turbine housing than a 14cm?

Question about spray pattern on F1 nozzles.

the number 6 plate was a poor match w/ the 4k GSK... it would make about 35psi till about 2600-2700rpm, and then it would make 42psi (wastegate blocked off)

that's w/ the plate slid full forward

I yanked it out and ground it down so that the deepest point is now a hair deeper than the deepest point on the 6 plate.

I installed it just the slightest bit back from full forward.

it made 45psi from about 2100 up!

I also slid the AFC housing forward (it was dead center) AFC wheel has always been full forward.

needless to say when I lay into it, it's a smokey *******!

I set the wastegate right at 40psi... LOT more smoke now at full boost than I ever had before, and EGT's climb quicker, but not so quick that I can't have fun w/ it!

Forrest I love the way you describe the smoke. I am still laughing. And every time I reread it. That is how I described a rebuilt engine that I bought years ago. Good luck and keep up the good work. Jimk

I hate to be accused of hot rodding but that would have entertained me for a while. Have you ever timed it just so, to where the butt head had to pull over to let the smoke out of the car to see. He would not get over and had the window was down. When the I had a chance I let the hammer down. Of course with a stock transmission the effect was less than spectacular, but the smoke was. But to stop three lanes of traffic now that is very cool. Jimk

I'll call your 3 lanes and raise you a highway :p

you ought to see my truck 95 degrees and 98% humidity... . smokes like cheech and chong only black as night. i try not to smoke to often dont like people to think my truck is broke :)

Forest... I did the same thing with my stock plate when I put the 3k GSK in. Yep... I've stopped a few intersections... . both lanes. Not to bad for having an Auto! :D

That's it, man! I am grinding my stock plate this weekend and tryin' it out. At least I still have my #10 in case it's a bit too smokey. Those Cali tree huggers are everywhere out here and they always seem to have a pen a paper handy to take down license plate numbers.

Got a #108 in my pics. :)

looks good!

Jim, I didn't have anything to go off of, so I just gave it hell. I may get an AFC spring kit to dial back some of the bottom end smoke, but I'm able to control smoke pretty well by keeping an eye on the pass side towing mirror ;)

besides, one of your old descriptions of the #0 plate helped inspire me to take the plunge :p

I do the same thing Forest does... . that and sound. I can hear when I get ahead of the turbo... so I back out of it a bit, or say to heck with it, matt it and wait for it to come up on it's own! That's usually a 3 count! :D

So just drop the hammer so they can't read it. :D :D
