A Kwiklift so you can work under your truck

This forum is about as good as going to a good shrink! So here goes. Saturday before last, I'm working on a car in my driveway. My truck is parked out in front of my house on the street. I rarely park it on the street because of my great dis-trust of drivers, but I needed the driveway to work on this guys car. I'm done with his car and I'm going to pull the truck in to install my trailer brake controller. I decide to go in and eat some lunch instead. It's about 12:30pm. I'm at the sink, washing my hands, when I see a small Ford truck come around the corner and this kid sitting shotgun throws something at my truck. I run out and see my Snugtop window busted and the broken glass scratched up my bed. Key in my pocket, I fire up a stone cold Cummins and put the hammer down. I used my UPS driving skills and caught these kids about a mile away. The driver was just 16 and his passenger was 14. I called the Cops and they filled out a report. The estimates are $1300. This kids mom has no money. My truck is only 5 months old. Now I have to turn it into my insurance. Yesterday, I drove to Bakersfield (130mi. ) to pick up our new travel trailer. I get there and look at the trailer, they didn't get the order right. My wife and I give it a once thru and find a multitude of things that are wrong. We get the speech that they will make it right. We sign the papers( I now think it was a mistake to sign before the fixxes)and I go out and set up the hitch to hook up and go home. It's now about 3:30pm and we have been there since 12:00. I get the trailer all hooked up and try the lights... . no right rear lights on the trailer and it blew both my stop light and signal fuses. The sales person comes out and I go OFF!!! I ask him how did this d@mn thing get out of the manufacture, get transported 200 mi. , and supposedly get ckecked out by his (I won't say how I described his shop and mechanics) mechanics with a major short in the wiring. He said that it was my truck. I told him "no way". So now It's 4:30, starting to rain, and I have no lights at the back of my truck to get my family home safely. I have no spare fuses(the ones for these are od-balls). I un hook the trailer, tell them to fix it right and to deliver it to my house when they get it right. I McGiver in a couple of blade fuses and wires to get the lights and signals working and we go home without our new trailer!!! Today, I'm laying real low. I sure hope to he11 that next Saturday goes better... . It has to!! Chris #ad

Isn't there a way the courts can make those kids repay you even if in installments? They sure aren't going to learn any lesions with your insurance paying for their damage.
I once caught a kid, about 13,on a bicycle cruising though a shopping mall parking lot swinging a large nut on a string into rear view mirrors(tell you the truth it looked like fun). I chased him down with my truck till he fell off the bike. I ran over the bike then reversed over it again as the kid stood there with his mouth hanging open,it used to be a pretty nice bike. I felt no need to call the cops, justice was served.

So Junior and his inbred parents have no money for your truck? Gee, maybe they can find some for those tires that got slashed... . or the engine with the cracked block... ...

When I was a kid, we had some idiot that thought it'd be cool to back his hotrod into our yard and give us lawn jobs all the time. This went on for YEARS. One day, finally, when I was about out of high school, I found him in a parking lot smoking dope. I grabbed a baseball bat and invited all three of them out to play..... none of them would do it. A year after that, (AND I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS... REALLY) I was watching the news, and there was idiot's house, WITH THE BUTT END OF A DODGE RAM STICKING OUT OF THE LIVING ROOM!!! Some drunk lost control, and drove right through his house... with one of those bigass old 70s era Power Wagons! 20+ years later, he sees me, he leaves, FAST. Kinda funny... I didn't have a thing to do with it... .

Well guys, I told his mom that I would take her to court if I did'nt get any money out of her. My neighbor, who is an old country Dutchman, said that I should be able to work a few pounds of flesh out of this kid. I don't want him near me because I might do something more drastic. I'm 48 years old and when I was a kid and you got caught doing something like this either the person or your Dad pounded thge I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER out of you. Today ,they tell you in defiance that if you touch them, they'll sue!! I'm hoping that my Insurance company will go after him and his mom. I have a call into her to insist that she atleast pay my $250. deductable. You know illflem, You're my kind of guy!!! An eye for an eye. Thanks for listening Chris #ad

P. S. What do you think about the trailer fiasco?

I think that poor salesman was probably lost... He didn't have a thing to do with the lights or anything else (probably), but he were 1/10 of a good salesman, he'd have had everything checked out and right BEFORE you got there... I learned long ago that if you want someone's business and respect, you make things right for them, if it's a pain in the kiester or not. Besides, taking care of the guy who just shelled out anywhere from half to several times what you make in a year is emminently sensible, if EVER want his business again.

Chris,on the trailer it's like you said, too bad you paid them. I don't think it would be wise to have them deliver it though. You may find more problems that they will hesitate to correct once it's in your hands. You can bet if you find a problem with it when they deliver the driver will say,"I can't take it back,I need to pick up a trailer in SLO",you'll be the one stuck hauling it to and from Bakersfield. Think you might save time and trouble taking the 2 hr drive across the valley. If you still want them to deliver make sure to work it out beforehand that they will tow it back right then if you're not satisfied. I grew up north of Bakersfield and don't think I'd trust many of the folks there. Good luck.

PS,I once almost bought an avocado orchard in between Atascadero and Morro Bay,nice country but I didn't want to be in CA.

Had a young punk standing behind my garage one night at 01:00. My dog was raiseing he!! and I went out to check it out. I was tired and forgot my gun. He was standing in the garbage can well, looking up and down the alley, like he was waiting for someone or up to no good. He saw me and didn't even move. I told him he had no buisness in my alley and to get moving. This (not so little) punk says"Its a free world and I can stand wherever I want"!I told him to move out or I was going to beat the living shi! out of him. He then quoted that he was a minor and if I touched him he would have me arrested. I then started to walk right up on him pulling my shirt sleeves up as I went. He took off down the alley spouting"I'm going to tell the cops on you". I told him my name and spelled it real slow for him as I kept walking toward him. He then ran!I never heard from the cops. But my son met this kid at school one day and overheard him talking about this mean MF at my address... I don't think he will come back. I think these little smart mouths need a few manners,it would be worth the fines and charges to do it. Dial 1-800-he stomped my Bu!!... . Right after the fact.

Some years back I had my tractor trailer parked along side my house.
One day I saw a bunch of kids (4-5) gathering up by the tractor, and I got suspicious. Just as I rounded the edge of the trailer, I cought a kid literally punching out my turn signal light. I covered that 50 ft I think faster than any human could, and had him by the scruff of the neck.
I didnt want to put him in my car (kidnapping charges etc. etc. ) so I walked him the mile or so to his house. It was raining out, so whenever a car drove by and there was a puddle, I held him in front of me to block the wave. #ad

When we got to his house, I spoke to his Mother (and was very suprised NOT to get "oh no... that couldnt have been MY son that did that!!") and explained to her how I didnt want to get law enforcement involved because "whenever something happeded in the neighborhood, they'd be knocking on your door first, and I know you wouldnt like that" I believe is what I told her.
I think she was a single mother, and later I felt a little bad about doing all this, but I did get reimbursed for the light.
Eric
PS sometimes I think countries like Morocco (cut off hands for steeling) and Singapore? (I think theyre the ones that do "caning") have the right idea.
If these fools that commit the stupid acts cant make reperations, how bout some good ol fashioned public humiliation??
How about making the jerk sit in the mall wearing a sign saying "I'm too stupid to contribute to the gene pool" for a weekend?? Or something equally as humiliating???
I can go on and on with this subject, but I'll spare you all. #ad

I hope things work out in the end for you Chris.

Hey Patriot, it sure doesn't have to be a caning, or hand chopping, to be humiliating. When I was 16, my little group of knuckleheads had the bright idea of chunking mud-balls at passing cars. (My idea, of course. ) #ad
Well, we had a grand ole time, right up until I heards Dad's whistle coming from down the street. I knew we were busted! One of our victims had slowly cruised the neighborhood, and had asked my father if he'd seen any young hoodlums about. Well, Dad knew exactly who he was talking about. So, after he'd gathered us all up and attracted the ENTIRE neighborhood, he took off his belt and WORE MY BUTT OUT! IN FRONT OF EVERYONE, including the driver we'd mud-balled! He even asked the driver if he'd like a turn! Dad proclaimed loudly, "Boy, you act like a baby, I'm going to treat you like one!" He even whipped a few of the other boys, whose parents were there to consent.

It was a lesson I never forgot, and that was 24 years ago! Definitely my last mudball party! #ad

Chris, the next time you make a purchase that involves large money simply go to your bank and establish an escrow account for the dealership to with draw the money from as soon as you sign a release. Its legal and keeps you from being stuck with a bad deal. They WILL make everything right knowing their money is tied up until you the customer is happy. Pete

Well I called the trailer outfit today. (Doug, it's Family Trailer ctr on union just off of 58) I spoke with the owner and told him that I will not accecpt the trailer if any thing is not to my liking. Understand Guys that the trailer is real nice and of good quality(Aljo). It just pi$$ed me off that some bonehead didn't do his or her job. I felt that the Quality control guy was asleep or drunk at the time. Maybe it's me, but I'm seeing this more and more as "business as usual" I might consider your idea Bill about going back after it myself. Nothing intended to those who might live in Bakersfield, but the area where this buisness is pretty scary and full of low life. (considering packing next time I go) Any how, All of your responses made me feel better and some gave me a good laugh. Chris

I say bring back the stocks.

Jim, I got my *** whooped more than once by Dad, and earned every one I got... . AND MORE!!
I dont think this has effected me in a negative way, emotionally or mentally.
My brother and I put my parents through hell on earth.
I'm ALMOST glad I dont have kids. (Wife is unable to have any)
I'd be afraid I'd get stuck with a little ******* as bad, or worse than I was. #ad

We had fun, learned a lesson, and luckily nobody got hurt. Guess that's what life is all about. #ad

No Offence Taken Chris, It is a Crappy area on the East Side of town. Thats a New Facility that Family Trailer Built just a Year ago. (the old place looked like a barn with a mobile home for a office) I still dont know why they Built it there in that area, Cheap rent I Guess. But I have heard good things about Family Trailer center.

I live on the Northwest side on B-town in Rosedale,2 miles North of Rosedale Hwy off of Allen Road. Anytime you need help or want to kill some time waiting for the RV shop to fix things just let me know. We could go over to HADDAD DODGE and shoot a BA/full moon at them!. Then do some burn outs in their paking lot!LOL #ad

Illflem- That was about the funniest d@mn story that I have ever heard, I bet that kid had eyes as big as the tires on your truck, you CRACK me up, I really enjoy reading your posts! I bet you'd be fun to sit down and have a beer with! Take Care- Mark

Thanks Mark,I try to keep it light especially with the way things are going with my livelihood in the farming business.

I forgot to mention in the bike story that I read in the local newspaper the next day that there were 48 reports of broken rear view mirrors in the area that day,I'll bet there were a lot more that weren't reported. That kid's bike was cheap compared to the amount of damage he did. He reminded me of a knight on a horse swing a mace, cruising though the parking lot doing target practice. Better than puffing crack I guess.
