What causes all the black smoke??

I just picked up a 2001. 5 2500. It is a striped model. No rugs ect. Just like a truck should be.

I have wanted a new diesel truck since the late 80's. But never scrapeed the funds together or found the deal I was looking for. Just excuses I guess. Between the racecars and bikes there just was not alot of cash flying around.

I have been pulling my junk with every hacked together truck you could imagen. Mostlly semi fresh big blocks that I would get up to speed over the winter.

I have been a member of tdr for about 6 months and have to thank everyone for the knowledge I stole from hear.

Well the talk of a new truck came up again monday and My wife gave me the green light for a new truck (2004).

I ate breakfast and told her I was going for ride. Drove to the local dealear. Having a pretty good idea what he had.

He did not have any 04 diesels but had a low milage 01 for a fair price.

I bought it.

I really bought it

After 15 years I bought one. It is in my Driveway. It is mine. !!!

As you can tell I am pretty excited. Did I mention I bought it.

4x4

Plow package

camper package

ctd

4 speed auto. the only thing that I was on the fence about. New trannies can be had in stealth mode around the wife.

I have the build sheet some were around hear. Basiclly every h. d . part offerd and only a. c. and a sliding rear window for options.

Just like I would have orederd a new one

Did you mention yet that you bought it??

And just when I thought I was the only one who got that cranked up...

:D

Congrats and enjoy..... !!!

I don't think I heard that clearly, did you buy it??? :) :)

Enjoy... Don't know how you are, but each time I get in my "brand new to me" 98, it is an enjoyable experience that ends too quickly.

congrats, I to have a 2001 and I would not trade it in on a new model, took almost a year to bomb it the way I wanted it. It puts a smile on my face whenever I drive it... . I know how you feel... .

I've had my '97 for a little over 2 1/2 yrs. I STILL feel like a kid in the candy store when driving it. I have NEVER been able to say that about ANY of my previous vehicles. Oo.

Just wait 'til the BOMBing bug bites.

I have been lusting after a Cummins-powered Dodge since I drove my first one in 1989 when I was fresh out of college and working at a Dodge dealership. They have come a long way since then! I finally got a 2001 2500 with 83,xxx miles about 7 weeks ago. Already had it to the local dealer last week for it's second lift pump the first one being replaced October 2000.

I, too, am hooked on these things. Every time I get in and hit the key (I can never start a gasser on the first try- I let go the key too soon), I feel giddy and jumpy inside. Here, I am in the driver's seat of a pickup with the strongest, longest lasting, most efficient engine ever put in a pickup, and with a few simple mods, sounds just like the BC-III Cummins in that semi over yonder. Oo.

Now when the BOMBing bug hits, you may not be able to hide it from the wife if she ever sees the checkbook. Just do what I did when I wasnt single- blame it on the fuel quality improvements of late.

Every time my First Gens pass the State Inspection with only some minor fault[marker light out or something] I feel I have again cheated the bank out of interest money they didn't earn.

After fourteen years with my W250 I still enjoy rattling out of a crowded parking lot and seeing heads turn. Okay they don't know what the noise is but they look anyway.
