Ok, so what do you do when 50 feet of truck and trailer dissappears into thin air. Happen to me in a busy mall shopping center lot within one hour of parking it at 3:00 in the afternoon. We are just recovering. Still miss my old truck. The replacement is newer, 1999 but with 145,000kms, 90,000miles instead of my 95 with 125. 000kms, 78,000mi. What differences can I expect between my 95 and the 99?? My wife loves the extra door and there seems to an improvement in power. Alsp have a 3. 55 auto instead of the 4. 01 auto. Is this a more favourable towing rear axel? Gas milage seems better too. I will be heading down the I95 to Tennnassee probably nxt week to look at a replacement for my 33ft Golden Falcon Fifth wheel. Suggestions on where to stop for gauges?? etc...

Thanks all. Slowely looking to replace my lts, air suspension, box cover etc...

You can expect more Horse power with the auto about 215 and the 3. 54 rear may have LS the 4. 10 better for tow . 3. 54 better mileage empty . The auto transmission would need mods for addition of Exhaust brake and a stick shift would be a better choice if you are going to tow a large trailer in mountains . Next best is mods to auto transmission . Do put a kill switch to keep the truck from going south or north east or west and your not in it . Your trailer is most likely a hunting fishing lodge in the woods and the truck is parted out. Gauges you can get on the net or most dealers read posts on subject . Thanks, the new truck has kill switch and satalite tracking but I wonder how effective they are against professionals. Needless to say I am feeling a bit anxious these days. It is the type of thing you aways hear about happening to others. What a chiche.

Ron

ps gone for the weekend. computer is at work so I won't be back untill Tues.

If somebody wants your truck,, all they have to do is pop the hood, disconnect the batteries, and load 'er up on a flat bed, and take 'er away. Sorry about your loss, it's amazing what some people will do. (Can I call them people?)

Check your fuel pressure,, you may notice there are plenty threads on TDR about Fuel pumps,, don't become a statistic with a dead injection pump because of a bad lift pump. (Anything below 8PSI, and you can try for a warrentied replacement)

Your truck could use 4 gauges, transmission temp, Boost PSI, EGT, and Fuel pressure.

Best power upgrade is an EZ, but with a 3. 54 rear, and an auto, even that could push your Auto to take a long walk off a short pier... Ya know what I mean ?

ATS/DTT/Suncoast/goerend. Look 'em up, and decide. (Hot Topic,, I'm tempted to "go there" but not this time)

The 3. 54 is great for towing, but only if you don't care for MPG, and like to haul Butt. With a 40' Car hauler, one truck and a four wheeler, running 3. 54 gears, and 36x14. 5x16. 5 tires, I got 10-12MPG from Muncie, Indiana, to Houston, Tx, (I towed in 3rd @ an indicated 65MPH) but, that was with a 12V, my 24V, with the same load, got about the same MPG, but it's a 6-speed, and has 245/75 Tires.

Keep your head up,, the 24V is a little bit of different animal, but is really a good motor.

Hope this helps,
