My oil pressure guage fluxuwaits between 0 and 20 psi when my truck is running 70+ and turning above 2000 rpm less than that is is stedy at just over 40 psi. This just started. Any ideas? Its a 1996 with 320,000 and a 5. 9 liter engine.
First off, you may have better luck with this question in the gen 2 section. There are slight differences between the 1989-1993 and the 1994-1998 12Vs.
My first thought is it sounds like a bad sender. Too much pressure and it is then reading false. Only thing you can do is swap senders, or test with a secondary gauge (aftermarket) and see where you are at.
