Being a realitively new member, and appreciating how much I have learned on this forum, I am performing most of my own service. However, I do have kinda of a dumb question. Beings how I change my own oil, and since I don't have a service manual, when you take your rig to a dealer for lube and oil, what do they lube, if anything? I don't have the tools or the inclination to do my own "lube". Obviously, I check fluid levels. What needs lubing on a regular basis? Should I take it to the dealer bout every third time (3000 miles between oil changes) or should I take it to an independent garage, or can one of the quick, while u wait lube places take care of it. Given that I am mildly bombed and don't wish to remove my EZ every time I go to the dealer, I would prefer NOT to go to the dealer for anything. Sorry for the long post.

The upper ball joints have grease fittings and there is one (Cant remember the name of where it is) but you will find it attatched to the center link. At least that all i have on my 01'.

Go buy yourself one of those Grease Guns you can work with one hand (about $12 bucks with grease) and a Grease Gun Hose (about $5 bucks) and do it yourself theres only 3 or 4 Zerk's and there all on the steering linkage in front of the axle housing. It takes longer to get the Grease Gun out then it takes to lube the truck.

What kind of grease?

I know there's different kind of grease that you're supposed to put in different trucks for some reason. What is the spec for the zerks in the steering assembly?
