Power steering pump on my 93 d-250 was damp and couldnt see the leak. Had to watch it for several minuets while running . Finally saw a drip from the fuel pump bracket onto the P/S pump.

In the aluminum casting between the vac. pump & the p. s. pump, theres a o-ring & a oil seal. If either one of these goes bad it will leak motor oil. The fan will blow it all over making it hard to pinpoint the leak.
I've replaced a few of these seals before, not a real tough job. Just another place to check for leaks.

Hi drivers mopars,
I had to replace the power stearing pump on my 1992 back in 1998. At the same time I had the Borgerson stearing coupler installed.

I've had a leak for about 6 months coming from between my ps pump and vacuum pump. Haven't had time to fix it but I will eventually. SURE MAKES A MESS!

You know, I don't really believe in all that stop seal goo that all the additive companies sell but, and thats a big but, I added the Slick 50 Power steering additive for leaks from my steering box. Low and behold it worked, now a year later, dry as a bone. Can't explain other than it re-hydrated the O rings and things that seal. Weird stuff.

Thanks guys, my P/S has been leaking for a while now. I hate to think about replacing the pump, so I think I'll try the Slick 50 fluid. I agree with Lil' Dog on the goo sealers. I'm getting rather annoyed by having to put more fluid in the resevoir every three to five days (yes, it leaks that fast :{ ) Right now, I'm willing to try anything that anybody suggests.

About 3 weeks ago I fixed a leak in my power steering system. I saw the dreaded drops on the ground and was expecting the worst.

Turned out it was a leaky hose. The pressure hose was leaking from the steel fitting. It would only leak when the steering wheel was turned, so I needed someone to turn the wheel so I could find it.

Less than $20 and an hour later and I was up and running again.

Sometimes we get lucky.
