'Vette owners annoy me

Stopped at a toll booth and as I pulled out the whole truck just died. I mean the whole truck. The radio was off. No
dash indicators. Nothing. .

After coasting to a stop and getting over the shook, I just turned the key from the "Off" position and restarted the
engine. It seems one of the keys had hung up in a slot on the back of the steering wheel and turned the ignition to
off when I moved the steering wheel.

Jeez. . #ad
talk about scaring the s**t out of you! Better reduce the number of keys on the ring.

I thought they fixed that. There was a TSB or something about that in '95 just after I bought my truck. You might check to make sure that the trim and so forth in that area is together correctly.

Rattlin, my '95s had a safety recall for something similar. What would happen is an extra key on your keychain could possibly get stuck in one of recess holes for the screws that hold the steering column cover on causing the steering wheel to be stuck. The fix was to put some self stick padding over the holes. Seemed to me there was a one in a million chance of it ever happening.

Rattlin' I did the same thing once #ad
I had a tiny flashlight on my key ring and it had wedged itself between the shift lever and the ignition key shutting the rig down a huge grade in VT! It only took a bump (FROST HEAVE) to shake the truck just right for the key to land in the shutoff point thus loosing everything. I even line striped my shorts in the breif <-----sorry no punn #ad
moments of the truck shutting off and me controlling it to a stop a wee bit down the road. Don'tcha hate that?

Just got home tonight from FL. First time on since I posted.

Thanks, for all the comments. I''ll be looking at the steering wheel section to see what's what.

As already mentioned, it could be a serious hazard when driving.

I had a spare key made that stays in the ignition lock ALL the time except when I park in a crowded lot. My keychain with 4 or 5 keys never starts the truck. I fYou don't have anything hanging from the key It can't get caught anywhere!

Wish you could leave the key in here in cali. Must be nice...

One thing that bugs me about having those extra keys hanging, is listening to them clank against the steering column when driving off road.
