2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission My rear passenger side door will not open

My rear passenger side door will not open. I havnt torn it apart yet I was just wondering if anybody else has had this problem. Also how to fix it.

See if something fell in the track , maybe cab got tweaked - out of square , if you are in freezing temps maybe thaw out .

Had the same problem with drivers side rear door, ended up being the latch mechanism. The springs inside weakened over time and would not open the latch. Had to replace with a new unit from the dealer.

I had the same thing on my 98 QC. Rear passenger door as well.

On my door the lower latch mechanism was seized and I had to use a 10lb dead blow hammer to force it open, then remove the door panel to get all of the linkages off.

From the underside of the door are 3 flat head machine screws, all of which sheared off while trying to remove them (also seized). I removed the latch mechanism and replaced it with one from the wrecker.



Not a very fun job, but best of luck with it,

Had the same problem on my 01. Plastic clip that holds cable in place broke. had to replace cable.

Thats what happened to mine. Pretty easy fix. Had to use some duct tape to seal up the inner door plastic, but has been working so far. If you take the panel off, save yourself some headaches and get new molding clips, I got a box of 20 for around $2, and the panel removal tool. much simpler, good luck
