lol i did that... i found a 15mm end wrench/ 3/8 drive ratchet w/10mm deep socket. . and standerd screwdriver. all in battery tray next to the battery. . i found them about a week later. when showing a friend my new turbo! oh yea i do the what did i come here for thing too... and im 18

It happened. Yesterday I let a friend use the shop to install a sending unit in his 2500. That was the last time I saw my Snap-On flashlight. Now I have a battery and a charger. He said "I put it in the tool cart with the screwdriver". I think he left it on the fuel tank where it was used to see to hookup the lines.



When he left he said, I sure thank you for the use of your shop. Did he leave it on the tank or did a gremlin get it? Either way, I'm out $234.



Oh well, live and learn. At 62, you would think I had? Who knows? I don't.

That's why you don't spend $234 on a flashlight. Anyway, I bought my first set of Craftsman tools when I was 11. I'm now 20 and have been losing and forgetting things for every bit of my short life. I work in my shop every day and and this kind of stuff happens, well, every day. I'm glad to read this because I thought I had something wrong with me.

I am 50+, I am a ex-aircraft mech, and have been wrenching for over thirty five years. I can say that I usually do not lose tools unless the

"All-fired hurries" kick in. To be a good mechanic, everything goes smoothly and quickly. To be a great mechanic, everything goes back where it belongs and patience stays in place. Always give yourself enough time to finnish the job right!



Keep the faith, sometimes Murphy takes over and things disapear.

and that is where the sledge hammer comes into play at my work place. not only does it make things fit, it is a great stress releaver when you can beat the snot out of something with a #12-#20 hammer

Ahh, you guys need to haul all your tools to the middle of a cornfield, work all day on a machine, put it together, get it running, and then load it all back up before you can go home. That's real fun



I've planted my share of tools, usually during the "man the rains comming, we gotta go. Are you done yet???"



Oh, and for a $234 flashlight, you should have put a chain on it, and hooked the one end of the chain to the tool box. That way it could only get so far away.

This reminds me of the techs I work with at BMW of Denver Motorcycles. I am a lot tech there, mostly washing, fueling bikes, and do QC checks before the service bikes go back out to customers. I can always find my tools, because I only use a few. I use some of the tools from the closest tech's toolbox. I know if I lose his I will die! Each tech has a bunch of regular store-bought tools, and specialized BMW tools.



The funniest thing was when one tech named Ray got mad and threw a wrench, hitting Eli in the head. So now Ray keeps a little "27 mm wrench" made out of seat foam to throw when he is mad.

Still Can't Find It

While I usually find misplaced tools and parts, I did a good job of hiding something. Several years ago I hid a WWII German sword my father-in-law carried home after WWII. We were going on vacation and I didn't want to lose it if there were a break in. Well, that was seven years ago and I still have not found the sword!!! Every now and then I look for it, but can't remember where I hid it. The wife's not happy!

I have lost so many 9/16" and 1/2" sockets that I finally got fed up one day and hit up about a dozen pawn shops on my way home... I now have a 1 gal plastic bucket full of 9/16" and another full of 1/2"... And wouldnt u know it. . as soon as I did that I stopped loosing them... And I keep finding crescent wrenches... I have every size from 2" up to 36" with doubles of most of them... . Pry bars too. . I cleaned my tool box the other day and discovered that I had over 20 pry bars of various shapes and sizes... And almost no metric wrenches... I think the gremlins r stealing my wrenches and leaving me crescent wrenches and pry bars as compensation..... Now I just need to start carrying a lil notepad so I can remember what I went to my tool box for... Cant tell yall how many times I have ping ponged back and forth remembering then forgetting then finally saying to hell with it and breaking out the hot wrench

I go to my kids houses every couple of months and get my toools back. One of these days i'm gonna start locking them up. I bought them tool sets years ago, and guess what?? "But, Dad, I lost mine, so I need to borrow yours. "

I am convinced babies are born so cute, you bond with them and can't bear to kill them when they hit puberty... !
