F350 Test Drive

looking for super fuel mileage rig!

What the F!!!!!!!!!! I went to fill up my Jetta yesterday (about 23 degrees out) and popped the trunk to get my Stanadyne Performance formula to put some in the tank and pore it into the tank ... nothing coming out!!

I look at the bottle and tilt it ... the stuff is like MOLASSAS ... WTF!!

Same thing this morning when I went to fill up my truck (this morning it was 30 degrees out). Two different pint bottles ... same issue.

I thought this stuff was to prevent gelling in the tank, but it can't even prevent itself from gelling.

Has anyone else experienced this ... its not like it super cold out here in southern NH. I have a whole case of this stuff ... could I have gotten a bad batch?

Yes it's common with many of the fuel additives, my cen-pe-co does the same thing. The ones like power service don't do it because they are mostly kerosene. The ones like yours and mine are according to a rep I talked to, are polymers and will thicken up unless they are mixed with diesel fuel. I've even mixed 4 ounces with a gallon of diesel and it thickened up but when 4 ounces is mixed with 25 gallons like is recommended then you don't have any problems. Even at double dosage there are no problems. It is really a pain in the butt though because I have these little 4 ounce bottles that I fill from my gallon jug and then keep them in a bucket in the box of my truck, about 20 of them, but this time of year I have to keep them in the house and remember to take one with me when I fill up.

Thanks Tim fo rthe info. I haven't used Stanaddyne for a few years, but don't remember it gelling up like that, but then again I use to buy the 1 gal. bottles.

Guess I'll just have to keep the pint container in the cab before filling up.

I keep mine....

... under the hood. There is a cavity between the fuse/relay box ( you know, the thingy that the EZ mounts to :) ) and the anti-lock brake unit. It fits perfectly and stays warm!

Whats a "EZ"? One of them computer things? No computers under my truck's hood, just a fuel plate, some injectors, and what sounds like a bunch of midgets with 2lb sledges hammering away on my block. :-laf
