Me and a friend drove to his sisters house in Bellwood, NY then took the bus to the Subway right into lower Manahttan.
Things I noted:
1. ) We were about 10 or 11 city blocks from the WTC. Couldn't get any closer without being in the press pool.
2. ) Lots of tractor trailer sized generators everywhere. A large crane came in seperately on 5 flat bed 18 wheelers. 1 track on a flatbed. It was huge.
3. ) Many, Many ambulances, F. E. M. A Hummers, State & City Police cars, and many undercover cars I couldn't tell who it was, came and went all day.
4. ) An F-16 was kept circling mainly over the open water to the east.
5. ) Some manhole covers had these smokestack like things over them. I think they were venting steam, probably from the fire and heat.
