Wait a minuet here... . The trany just got a little hot and fluid ran out of the vent tube..... what a crock of crap!
You would not worry about it, yell right. The guy is not pulling a trailer nor does he have a load, and the trany got hot and spit out some fluid form the VENT tube, get real. . What the hell is everyone else that does pull a trailer suppose to do?? Do you real think they would find it acceptable, if they spit trany fluid all over the road because the transmission got hot????
Get out of here. . If your transmission spit fluid, there is a reason for it. Leaks do not seal themselves for your convenience. Also the poster before was correct, the rear main is in reference to the rear of the block, as in a seal that fits over the crankshaft at the rear of the engine where it exits the block and joins the flywheel, to keeps the oil from leaking out of the engine. if you have a leak in that area, it is most likely the seal at the front of the transmission were the pump is located. Also, it is VERY important that you know how to check you transmission fluid correctly. This procedure is outlined in your owners manual, or in most good truck manuals, like Haynes. Second, if your trucks trany was so hot that it pushed fluid out at this spot, then there was no accurate way you could have checked the fluid at that time. Something has to give. You should check your trucks transmission fluid level when it is cold, and while it is parked on LEVEL ground, following the steps as described in the manual. if in doubt, take it to a professional (not the local grease monkey at the quickie lube) he will help you out. I suspect your transmission was overfilled, hopefully it did not hurt anything. Good luck.
