Thank you krabman,

It did seem weird they would not use certain paint on cetain bodies.

BTW, I am glad to hear details of the sport package from Dave. I don't care for 'loud' badging myself. I also like the understated "C" denoting the CTD. I had been wondering, prior to seeing one, if the '03s would have a red paragraph on the door:

Guess it would have wrapped around the tailgate. :D

I went with the short bed because I like the looks, and I like how easy it will be to commute in. If I tow heavy I figure it'll be more likely with a gooseneck than a 5th wheel, so that helped influence my decision too. If I was an RVer who towed a fiver a lot, I'm sure I would of gotten a long bed. For that matter, I probably would of gotten another dually.

I decided before I ordered this truck that if I needed to haul something big, I'd rather haul it on a trailer than on the truck. Exact opposite from my last Ram, which had a 11' flatbed on it.

Still grinning. :D

I really liked the looks of the shortbed, but my tongue weight on my fiver put me into the dually range. A couple of comments, krabman, I found that I could get the best info from going to both dodge.com and kbb.com. The availability of color from dodge.com was right on the money whereas the info form kbb was more complete in other areas. The other comment would be, if you plan to tow a fiver with your truck, an 8 foot bed is more practical in some ways. The hitches for the short beds can be quite expensive and more complex because they have to slide to enable the truck to "jacknife". A PullRite sliding hitch runs around $3000 or so. I will also say that, in my own opinion, the longer the wheelbase the better the ride. Thank God they don't make a shortie dually, it would ride like a lumber wagon. To sum it up, if I didn't tow a fiver I'd have a shortie, Cummins, of course. :D

Hi again

If anyone can spare the time please try to build a charcoal long bed CC 4x4 Lariat SRW HO. I couldn't. The color kicked out the other options. It is clearly available as evidenced by owners who have them! Just wanted to get a double verification that on dodge.com there is a glitch before I look dumb and send them an email.

Thanks,:p

Looks like a goof to me. With a SRW 3500 quad long box 4x4 Laramie, I can select graphite only if I don't select sport. If I select sport, it's gone but oddly light almond is an option. I find that hard to believe, so I bet they just mixed up graphite and almond.

I didn't order the optional BFG's, so I got Michelin LTX P265's. I had LTX's on my dually and was reasonably happy with them. These are going to get replaced with something bigger though, once a front end leveling kit comes out. . Probably BFG AT's or Procomp AT's.
