I have to congragulate Samuel Pap in the upkeep of His (My) truck. The truck was flawless and drove from Portland Oregon to My home here in Santa Clarita (L. A. ) without one problem. The gear, trans and engine fluids had all been changed prior to my picking up the truck and the truck was spotless.

This goes to show that the TDR classifieds are where you should shop for a used Diesel truck.

I had talked to Tommygun, Big Bob and who knows during my search but when Sam contacted me with the info on his truck I decited to buy it. I had even looked at 2nd gen's in the process but I think I made the best choice, sure the truck had 25,000 miles on it and was listed has a 2004. 5 it even sold for $35,500. 00 but it was worth every cent in my eye's. I could have purchased the same truck new from one of the above mentioned person's for around $15,000. 00 more with tax and license and I had every intention to but this was a great deal. The truck had Line-X installed along with xenon fender's and a 5" exhaust on which I just had a friend add a stainless tip, full mud floor mats, skyjacker 25 hd springs, 315/12. 5/17'S, a AFE air intake, and a Edge juice with Attitude control," Oh "and before I forget the trany temp guage on the steering wheel cluster.

"Yes thanks Sam" for the truck and all that was accomplished on it that's just one less thing I have to deal with has I build it. Now where's my ATI V trans and control along with my KORE suspension and before I forget MY fuel pump along with my injector's and o-ring head gasket "Oh yea" I need my lifter's upgraded for my larger turbo,etc... etc... etc... Oo. where's my credit card on second thought where's my wife.

2004. 5 CTD,SWB,2UH package,SPORT,FLAME RED,AUTO,DARK SLATE GRAY INTERIOR,4X4,ETC... . (I'M STOKED)... and I just added a super sport snug top.

You didn't mention whether this truck is certified for CA (CARB). If not, although it has the mileage to qualify as used, you may have a problem at DMV unless you come with a story like you went to Oregon and your vehicle took a dump and you had to buy in an emergency, or something like that. I don't think you can do this through an agent (like AAA) at least I couldn't, but mine was new. I bought it in Idaho.

As long as it was bought USED with more than 7500 miles, Calif DMV will register it. I have done it several times. It states it in the DMV hand book. It will not be a problem. Yo don't need any stories. That will only delay the process. There is NOTHING wrong with buying out of state. People do it all the time. You just can't buy a new non Calif car and plan to drive it the 7500 and THEN go to DMV. With 25k being on your truck, there will NOT be a problem as long as you state the true, complete facts. I was a resident of Calif for almost 50 years. Ive never had a problem.

My 98 12v was bought from Dave Smith and I just happened to have 7500 miles on it by the time I crossed the Calif state line. I went to DMV the very same day and had NO problem with anything. Heck, they got their fees and that was all that mattered. My travels after I took delivery made it so my truck had something like 7800 miles by the time I returned. My truck was NOT certified in Calif and nothing was said. . Best of luck to you. Just state the facts and you will be ok. :)

I forgot to add, it is almost impossible to BUY anything in Calif when you live in another state. I was going to buy a new RV in Redding Calif and they said I couldnt unless THEY delivered it to the state line, (for a fee) and I took delivery there. What a joke. I just feel that Calif is impossible to deal with ... Period! Im sure happy that I made a move a few years ago and made my primary residence Oregon 51% of the time.

Thanks bellyscraper,

I appreciate the comments.

Does anyone know of a super clean replacement truck with a 6spd?

Sam

"Your welcome Sam", and by the way I had no problem in registering the truck in California all I had to do is show them the money $2550. 00 in tax and fee's along with the weight of the truck 7040 lbs. Oo. Oo. :D :-laf Oo. :) :p
