Shocks for my 2005

I just installed a Grom Audio interface adapter to my factory in dash stereo for my Ipod and it all works fine, until I start the truck that is. Just after starting my fuel gauge goes to empty and the low fuel light comes on for a second or two then goes off and the gauge returns to the proper level. Another minute or so goes by and the check engine light comes on then goes off. After this happens a couple of times I noticed my overhead display got brighter then went back to its dimmed state due to my headlights being on.

At this point I turned around and parked it. There are no codes and I disconnected the batteries for a while and reconnected and still no change. Truck runs fine but problems like this make the hair on my neck stand up. Has anyone heard of this before?

I don't have that exact samme problem but I did get some gremlins when I did some wiring work on my truck.

Did you need to tap into any wires for the controller to work?

I tapped into a power wire on my truck and now I get the lights on dinger for about 30 seconds after the truck is off and the door is open.

You might have done something like that.

This is a plug and play type unit. It just plugs in the back of the factory stereo where an aux. cd changer would go. No wiring to do at all. Maybe this is why Dodge is so proud of there unit at approx. 200 bucks.

Try unplugging the unit and see if the problem goes away. If so it probably is taking the BUS down. If not you may have pinched/cut the BUS wire in the harness to the radio or the HVAC control head when you removed the radio.

Well, here's the update. I removed the aftermarket unit and the truck is happy again. After a little searching here at the TDR I found someone else had the exact same problem with a 2004. 5.

His gremlins went away too after removing his adapter. The post didn't say what brand he had used. I received an email from the manufacture and they just said it apparently isn't "fully compatible" with my stereo. Just so you all know what didn't work, it was a Grom Audio CHRA interface adapter.
