So, in the last week, my truck has started something new. It blows soot out of the stacks, mostly the drivers side, on start up. It blows out so thick it showers down in chunks all over the truck. I see it on the hood, windshield, box side rails and good golly the floor! I can actually see my tread pattern it is so thick. :-laf

When it lands on the floor I would say it dots the floor with dots about the size of the end of a pen. And when you sweep it, it shmears. Alot! ;)

Anyone have an idea what it is from or what caused this? Just a soot buildup? But why now and not a year ago?

Have you changed anything on your fueling? Have you ran it harder or easier lately? Might just need to blow the soot out of it. LOL

That was my thought too. Fuel did change. No longer Sunoco Gold. Basically regular diesel only.

Thought about a good blow out too. Will try that tomorrow! :D

I get loads of that start-up soot. All over the truck. Just when I get her all cleaned up, its time to start the engine again, so I just drive my 1990 with the tail pipe.
