I finally got my truck running. After a lot of tinkering, my friends at Rojas Diesel Shop discovered a bad crankshaft sensor which prevented the engine to start.

I just want anyone with similar problems to know that this was an intermitent problem. We were able to pinpoint it because the tach needle would not move when the engine is cranked. Also, ocassionally when I was standing at a traffic light (for example) the tach would go to zero and the "check engine" light would come on.

It cost around $40. 00 and solved the problem.

Thanks to everyone who gave me your thoughts to help me with my problem. :)

Finding parts in PR

No not at all. As a matter of fact, I have found the lift pump for my truck in stock at the local Cummins Distributor. The crank sensor was around $40. 00. I can not say the same about DC dealers. They usually don't have parts for these trucks.

I have found also that Pep Boys carry the oil filter, air filter, diesel fuel filter, auto transmission oil filter, brakes, brake rotors, brake wheel cylinders, brake pads and other things in stock.

It is very rare that I take my truck to the dealership. And know that the warranty is expiring this will be even less.

Regards,

Ricardo
