Wierd, I know,

Remember the 80's TV show about the jet-powered helecopter with Stringfellow Hawk and Earnest Borgnine? Whenever that helecopter was shown in a fight scene, it would always make a growling whining sound effect when it accelerated or flew by the camera. My truck makes that sound! I think it's just exhaust resonance (stock exhaust) because it is exaggerated when the back window is open. Has anyone else had this problem? I'm not too worried about it. I suspect a loose exhaust clamp or something simple like that. Maybe I'll check it one day.

Airwolf noise

I think I may have fond at least one source of the noise.

At highway cruise speeds, my truck occasionally would start sounding like someone had turned on a really strong electric fan under the hood.

After lots of testing, investigation and experimenting, I fond that it's related to water in the fuel and in the water separator.

I drained the fuel filter's water separator and put clean, fresh fuel in the tank. The noise stopped.

I wasn't getting the water warning light and further checking revealed a TSB about cleaning the sensor probes.

Good luck,

Dick

Could the water hose from the heater be plugged in to the block back toward the fire wall if so move to next plug hole forward about about a ten twelve inches and noise will be gone just take out plug forward then move hose forward do use a sealer on pipe and plug. Ron in Louisville KY P. S. I used a new hose longer by about one foot to keep off strain on hose. :D

Airwolf, The Fall Guy, and Dukes of Hazzard... All great Classics!

Now, if we could get all 3 back on TV again!! I know the Dukes were on TNN for a while, and now they are back off again. Weren't those awesome shows though???

I'd check for leaks up near the turbo... or maybe the muffler has a hole in it somewhere.

It used to be a family tradition when I was 7-8 to watch Simon & Simon, Dukes of Hazzard, then Dallas all in a row on Thursday nights I think. Now if I could only get ahold of Simon's front bumper on that Power Wagon... would look nice on the 2500 :D

For 50 bonus points.... Earnest Borgnine played the part of _____

Somebody better remember, cause I can't.

BTW reduaram, Your truck isn't allowed to make that noise unless you repaint it all black. ;)

My 2 cents' worth...

I remember hearing a pipe organ sound from my 1996 and it was a loose collar at the junction of the air cooling radiator and the pipe from the turbo. Or was it God saying ' Thou shall not turbo too often'? :D Dan

Couldn't resist :D Loved that show! back when I did mods well before yet another bigger turbo/exhaust that changed the note entirely, If the back window is open and the pedal is dead to the floor you will hear the impellar of the turbo thru the exhaust even stock form! straight pipe that and max~Wolf can be heard! :D

Toolman, I have got to know... . how do you get that on your post and then get it to play. Way cool. Where did you round up the theme song.

I was a Knight Rider fan when I was young. Sure wish they would have used a Dodge Cummins instead of that gutless Trans Am. Brings a whole new meaning to the turbo boost though I couldn't imagine a 7500 pound truck flying through the air.

Really cool -- really old(ies)

When I was a kid . . . . It was Flash Gordon Oo.

I continued through the years ending with my sons watching the Dukes and others already mentioned. All Great Shows Oo.

ToolMan, Love the music you posted Oo.

Speed Racer. Now that's an old highway. I loved that car, especially the submarine option. One thing I recall is the Mach 5 never blew tanks when in submarine mode. As to Airwolf, that was one of my favorite shows, especially when I was stationed in Guam.
