I went out to start my truck to let it warm up, before I went home from work. First it was real hard to start, and then it wouldn't idle correctly (about 250RPM surging to around 550rpm), the battery was way low on voltage also. So I pulled it up to the shop door, and tried to shut it off... wouldn't die :O ! Started to put in 5th, and pop the clutch, but I quit reving the motor to around 1000rpm and let it fall to idle, and it died on its own... . ??????

What is this trucks problem??? Is it my fuel shut off solonoid, or what?

This is the first problem like this it has ever had.

Thanks,
Scott P.

Sounds like a bad lift pump or plugged fuel filter. Another possibility is the prefilter screen on the bottom of the fuel heater. It may be plugged.

I should have poped the hood first. When I first obtained the truck back in Aug. 99 I noticed that there was a bolt missing from the AFC housing... turned out it was broke off in the housing #ad
. It was one of the fuel shutoff solonoid bracket bolts, oh well there are two more holding it in place.
When I installed the gov. spring kit I noticed that the bolt on the bottom side of the bracket was gone... oh well there is still one bolt holding it on.

The culprit of this problem is the ear of the bracket that has that 1last bolt in it broke off.

Now I am tomorrow going to buy 2 of those brackets, and have one as a spare, until I have time to get the pump off and the bolts removed.

Thanks for your responses... I guess I should have poped the hood first.
