hey guys my rig wont start. i turn the key to cycle the glow plugs and after the wait to start light goes off i turn the key to start and i get nothing, the wait to start light comes on again and no sound, no nothing, i checked my fsm and ive gotten as far as checking the battery its good. and the terminal connections there good... i took apart my ignition switch and checked the connections and everything seems to function perfect im thinking its the ignition relay or something please let me know what you think thanks for your time.

one word, starter. The plunger and solinoid contacts wear and lose contact. grab a starter kit from Jeno's garage and you should be fine as long as the brushes are ok. And you can replace those also.

thanks for the response, that makes sense but its started first crank every time since ive ovned it 3 years, never any hesitation or anything is it still possible that its the starter, if so how could i check before i pull it?

Easy way to test, while kinda crude, is simply have someone hold the key in the start position and tap the started with a small hammer. If you're old enough, the same way to deal with an old chevy starter.

Just make sure you do not have a hand or anything near the fan or belts.

well pete, after locating the starter relay. . the one thing i moved to make room for my veg oil conversion and forgot about it... . i took it apart and noticed it was heavily corroded inside so i purchased a new relay for 20 bucks... it worked... pete your the man... thanks again guys!

No problem! I practice the KISS method, Keep It Simple Stupid! Always check the easy stuff 1st. :-laf

If the relay is mounted spades down, less chance of contamination too. ;)
