Here I am

My UOA with 10w30 :(

GPF coming to US gas engines

What is the correct battery voltage range?

Below is my current UOA with Amsoil DTT 10w30, I was a bit surprised to see that I had 2.2% fuel in the oil with only 1467 miles on the oil. BTW I have changed back to Amsoil 5w40 DEO as I did not like hearing the lifers sound like my 06 did with 15w40 after sitting a few days when over night temps were in the 30 degree range... FYI this engine did not see a lot idle time in the 60 days the oil was in the engine so once more will complain to Ram about it along with the off and on typewriter noise that showed up 300 miles after installing 10w30... Second UOA is for 10/24 with Amsoil ADO 5w40....

realistically, why are you sampling after 1467 miles and what duty cycle does the truck see?

One of 2 reasons, my dealer did a UOA on my other oil change, they used some company I did not know, it found 4.38% fuel in oil at IIRC 5400 miles where Fleetguard did an estimate of <2%, being I was getting dumping the 10w30 to switch back to 5w40 thought it was a good idea to see what Fleetguard UOA would reveal when they did GC on the sample and not estimate the fuel contamination....

by duty cycle, what I am asking is it short tripped alot, or alot of cold starts and not alot of highway use or when you use it it runs for hours.

either way you really shouldn't have any measurable fuel in the lube oil on such a new truck, Dont know what to say except it is either something related to short trips and regens or you have a internal fuel leak in the engine..

How often is the truck conducting an active regen?

Are you making oil?
Yes, the below photo of the dip stick about 70 miles after resent oil change, its hard to see but its above safe mark, SM was not available but a SW said maybe we need to see what Ford & GMC diesel engines UOA show for fuel contamination, it my just be normal due to all the emission stuff, cute coming from an owner whose own 22 Cummins is deleted

Right now it is seeing 40% Hwy 60% city driving, I take it out on 25+ mile drive at least every 7-10 days sometimes more often, some times it will sit for a 7+ days or more thus the low miles...

It’s not normal for these engines to have that much fuel in the oil. My UOA showed <2% (I think that’s the lowest reading they show) with 10K miles on the oil and no growth on the dipstick.

I don't really know what the answer is, or if you actually have a problem.. but I think you aren't driving it enough... that Cummins ins't a piece of machinery designed for short duration, it is designed to run for hours at a time... anyway 5% is generally considered the Max for fuel oil dilution and you are under that.

Will disagree that the truck has to be used X number a days every week, I know of other 2019+ trucks that see no more then 3-5K per year and don't have oil contaminations over 2%, also know of one truck just 15 miles from my house that is used 3+ days a week pulling 4-10K and it has oil contamination greater than 5%. Yes this UOA was under 5% but it sure as heck should not have been 2.2 in under 1500 miles. Below is a photo of the dip stick at 1400 miles showing oil growth that by all mean is not normal.

I didn't say it needed to be used every day.. what I did try to imply is that short trips are not the best thing in the world for this type of engine and keeping it at operating temps for long periods of time allows things to cook off from the oil that tend to accumulate in short duration runs. Other than that I have nothing to say except if you think it has a problem and the Ram Dealer does not, you need to keep oil sample records as well as records of complaints if the engine goes south at some point in its life.

Time to start driving it more and see if you can get something to fail so Ram can fix it.

It could be a bad injector, bad CP3 seal, DPF issue, intake issue causing excessive regens….

Start recoding the hours between active regens, and documenting the oil growth with photos and notes.

Now that I use Archoil I can go 24 hr in between regens so don't want to stop using it just to see if I get a CEL, part of my problems is getting dealer to get head out of @sss with see if the Chevy & Fords have oil contamination problem, well I took time yesterday and only found one baby Duramax that had 2.6% fuel in oil at 10,000 miles so that tells me its not an any brand of diesel problem...

If you're not having excessive regens and you're making oil then it's more likely an internal fuel leak. I've heard of the CP3's leaking fuel into the crankcase.

You should fill out your sig...

I've my truck profile filled out with the new truck info since 3/22 not sure why truck info does not show up in post
