I had the same vibration that many others are talking about, after three visits to the dealer, mine is finally fixed. It was a combination of the damper weight on the hose to the hydroboost pump and the front driveshaft. Evidently, Dodge has come up with a new part number for the driveshaft that fixes the problem and, of course, it is on national back order. The dealer left the old shaft out and it is driving perfectly.

Mine is an '04 quad cab 3500 dually 4x4. All '04's were supposed to have the damper weight already on from the factory but mine did not have one. Make sure yours does, it is easy to spot. Look on the top hose from the PS pump to the hydroboost pump and there should be a fairly large C shaped lead weight attatched to the hose.

Try this, hope it works for you.

I hope DC puts out a TSB for the revised front driveshaft. I had the booster hose done and that eliminated the buzz in the wheel and pedal but I still have a vibe felt in the seat and floor at certain speed which I believe to be a shaft or wheel out of balance.

man you got my hopes up

as soon as i read this i went out and took off the front driveshaft ...

drove to dodge dealer ready to order new part ...

 didn't help a bit

i had same result with hose tsb, got about half of my vibration

IS you 03 a SB or LB if its the long bed try shimming the hanger bearing on the rear shaft. SB doesnt have a hanger bearing.

Just a note of thanks to you guys for posting about how you solved the vibration problem. I took mine into the dealer and he said that he had not heard of the problem and could not find a TSB. I took the tech for a test drive and he said "what can you expect, it's a diesel"

I went home and printed out the whole thread with Dean's picture and showed it to them. They ordered a new hose and when it came in they were surprised to see the weight on it. It seems to have improved the vibration.

I still have the whine and a drone at certain speeds so I am going to try a muffler change to try and fix the drone.

That TSB came to them WEEKS AGO in PAPER and on COMPUTER!!!!! My dealer had NEATLY in his TSB note book and TECHS were able to PULL it QUICKLY off their referance end on computer. That dealer NEEDS to do HIS job and get off his butt.

You are right DP, I got zero response from the first dealer, they said Dodge was working on it but do not have a fix yet. Three months later and after a nasty letter they got a zone rep down and he recommended another dealer with a better service rep. Sure enough, he pulled up the TSP and fixed it right away. It took both the new hose and a new front drive shaft.

The truck is great now, I have since put the Banks Six Gun kit, wastegate actuator and 4" exhaust. It made a HUGE difference and finally I am happy with my '04 nightmare!!
