I think I've got you beat Matt. My wife gave me the blessing to buy my '97 CTD in "97, and last year the blessing to buy my '04 H. D. Ultra Classic!! Is that a great wife or what!!! :D

Matt, let us know how it works out. I'm in the market for a new 7 mag. after my wife finishes school and gets a job and we pay off school debt, credit card, car payment, etc. , etc. , :{

Good for you! Drop a Timney trigger in that bad boy and you'll have a REALLY sweet shooter. I have the same one in . 338 WinMag. Also had to put a Limbsaver pad on it to save my "sensitive shoulder". :-laf

Very nice, Matt! I have the Ruger M77 II in walnut stock 30. 06... I am partial to Rugers as my revolver is in the same family. Shot a box this past weekend.

Where are you headed this fall?

Unit 34, just a little NW of Glenwood Springs.

Not sure what season you'll be going, but if it's 4th then push 'em our way- we'll be in GMU 33 ;) Got tags for either sex.

Good luck to 'ya!

Very nice ... I also have a M77 II in stainless with a lamanated stock and a Leupold 3X9 scope in . 300 WinMag. A lot of people dump on Ruger rifles ... I don't know why mine shoots great out to 300 yrds.

Your lucky, you got a good wife who seems to care about you ... wish I could say the same for my wife ... or soon to be ex.

Aren't the wifes great when they say, "ok honey, you have $4K to spend on your truck before the end of the year", "you must install the stainless steel side tubes, you must install better off road tires and a better front bumper so you can mount you winch and a better air horn too".

My jaw is still dragging on the floor a month later... . :--) :D :D

Congrats on the new rifle. Ruger makes a fine rifle but their triggers are very heavy. Like AMink said drop an aftermarket trigger in it and enjoy!

I'll be headin after the same stuff next weekend! unit 4, here I come! :D

Ok, since i'm not married, I'll comment on how awesome my mom is. Tomorrow she is driving all the way up from TX, 11 hours or so, depending on how many cars are in the way of the big dodge, just to bring my rifle and horse to me. Now if that's not a great mom, I don't know what is...

Oh Yeah, she's also a TDR member :-laf

AMink and i are in the same boat, M77 MkII in stainless/synthetic in 338 Win Mag, limbsaver pad, and a 9 round stock shell holder and 4 round sling/shell holder. I love it, 25 yards, 3 shots within a dime. I have a Leupold VariX III on mine 4. 5 - 14 power with the 40mm adjustable objective and a fine duplex recticle.

oh yea, i have a timney trigger in mine as well, not that hard to put in if you are mechanically inclined (gotta file down the safety drum some) but it is the best mod i have done to any of my rifles, takes all the slop out of the factory set up. I love it. adjustable trigger pull, i used the factory spring the one they sent really set the pull down too far to be safe as a hunting rifle.

Does this disable the safety? Just curious because I had someone else looking at the Timney's for their Ruger.

Safety works the same. You just replace the trigger mechinism itself. It is adjustable for weight and travel. Mine is set very light right now, but when (if) I draw a tag, I'd bump it up so that it isn't so light. I think it's adjustable from 1-7 pounds or something like that. It makes the gun much easier to shoot well.

i'll agree with that. It is much easier to get tight groups with the timney trigger than with the original trigger from ruger, i have also noticed it doesn't give you as much opportuninty to jerk the trigger, no slack is the best for me, took a while to get used to but when i did the results were amazing. down side is none of my friends will target shoot with me anymore

Come on now guys, She buys me something as a total surprise and I'm supposed to bomb it right off the bat  . Heck, the 4-wheeler she got me last year was supposed to be perfect, but I've already added a clutch kit to it, I don't think she'll let me modify this bugger anytime soon.
