I've been looking at getting a new truck for quite a while. My wife is bending, but hasn't broke yet. :-laf I have grown to really like the 8' bed on my 97, but with two growing boys, the back seat is a little cramped. I'm in a toss up between a MC and a QC long bed. I just don't know if down the road the QC will have enough room in the back. Those of you who have a QC and long legged kids (or adults), are the seats big enough for comfort over long hauls? Also, since I missed the ordering cutoff, I'm down to what's left. I want 4x4 SLT, 3500 srw, color not a big deal. Maybe a few additional options, but not many. What are the good prices you've been seeing, if any? I'm seeing 40K plus on stickers here, though there is always the "one only at this price" coming up at around 35 or 36K. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

I have the QC and I am 6'4 although I can fit 6 in the truck it is not what anyone likes to do for the long hauls; if I did not need the long bed I would have definatly gone with the MC I drive them often and get spoiled with all of the space... If your looking for a good price on something on the lot let me know my buddy is the GM for Hayward Dodge and would love to get rid of some MC as he has a ton of them in stock...

My QC is comfortable for a moderate trip. If you have made due with an extended cab all this time, the QC will be a step up in the comfort department and you'll keep the long bed. If you're used to the long bed, I would stick with one. I find myself wanting an extra foot of bed space a little more often than I like... but the short box did provide the excuse for a trailer :).

The megacab is definately as comfortable as it gets for long trips with TONS of room back there. I drove one a couple months ago and decided that the quadcab had plenty of room for my needs. Also, you do feel the extra weight of that large cabin... that is one heavy truck.

When you're ready to buy, go to the dealer and drive both models. Take one or both home and let the wife help with the decision. The happier she is with the truck, the happier everybody will be. If Mama ain't happy. ain't nobody happy :-laf .

Get the MEGA with the tailgate bed extension kit. Whining (BIG) kids and an unhappy mama is just a recipe for excessive misery. #ad

I am 6"4" and my wife is 5'10". I have only gone on one long trip 3500+ miles and only with one of my long legged kids but she was fine even though she spent most of the ten day trip riding in the back with a full load of gear (cooler/portable TV/DVD player/ various womens bags, yes I have a topper but it was full as well :-laf ). I have made a few trips of a few hours with 6 adults and no complaints.

"Like I said, she hasn't broke yet, but I'm working on it!"

Mine was the same way but once she actually drove it... ... ... ... ... ... well let's just say she has far more hours at the wheel of my truck than I do. :-laf Something about a big honking truck and that diesel smoke... ... ... ... ... she's always bragging how someone was driving to slow and she had to floor it and make some smoke to get around them.

Wife's who invented them?

If I ould have killed my wife when I wanted to I would be out of jail by now. Today we have been hitch for 46 years and it not getting any better. She still thinks she boss. :{ I have no say so in anything.

It's done! Got a MC 4x4 3500 sitting in my driveway now. I am going to sell my 97, though it was a tough decision. I wish I could keep them both, but I don't know what I'd do with two CTD's! Maybe I could sell my wife's Expedition and she could drive one of the trucks. Hmmm... not a bad idea!

Awesome Man, I just pulled the trigger also. Keeping the ol' reliable 95 tho.

Now was the time to buy before they started that Emp. pricing crap, you actually get a better deal w/the $3500 off, Plus its the end of the month, so they are REALLY willing to deal.

Jim

Yeah, the Employee Pricing would put it at about the same. They don't do these things to lose money, that's for sure! On the truck I got, I actually got an additional $1000 off because it had been on the lot for a while. I can live with that!

I don't know yet. I'll put it in the classifieds tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for asking though. I have to quit playing around with my new toy and figure out about the old one!

Meet Moby Dick!

Well, it's a white truck. Kind of like all the other white trucks out there. :-laf The kids call it Moby Dick.

I think it was a Dick, don't know the last name.

AMink, Congratulations of your new Truck. Yep sell her Expedition, she will love driving the MC while you drive the 97. You might just what to sell your 97 and have your wife keep her Expediton.

Your shell won't fit on your MC, are you going to sell it with the truck? Maybe you should sell that Expedition

I haven't had much time to check this site lately, I ended up finding a like new 22G Nash with twin bunks exactly what I was looking for. Now I just need to find some time to use it. Truck pulls it like it ain't there.

Good luck with the new truck

Bill

I'd sell the Expedition in a heartbeat, but we still owe some on it. With the market for the full size SUV's right now, I don't know that we'd do too well on it. Plus, she does occasionally use all the seats. I guess I'd rather have the kids' grubby friends in the Ex than my new truck! :-laf
