Here I am

My wife loves her new Excursion!

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

Just a sigh ... *daydream* (Fuel good ol days)

Just Married

and... ... ... ... . I got my dually back to drive!

She just loves driving that little thing around. It's barely bigger than the short bed.

It was funny to see the salemans expression when I said "We need to downsize" as we were looking at the Excursion.

We decided against the 6. 0 (Thank TDR for the advice) & got the V10.

I allready got a call into Ford-Cummins ;)

I have an 02 Limited with the 7. 3. Just cracked 120K... so far only minor issues. I run the manure out of it... its hanging tough. Biggest pain is the rear main-it leaks like the Exxon Valdez.

Its completely filled with tools & parts, and even with the 3rd seat gone, I often find myself needing a little more room inside...

On the outside. . this thing is huge. Parking lots & tight K-turns are a real pain.

With fuel prices like this & winter coming... The CTD is staying in the barn.

After the Co vehicles I have had... they wont get this one back. Good luck w/ yours

At the risk of peeing on your picnic basket...

There's a class action lawsuit that's been filed on behalf of owners of V-8 and V-10 Fords. Apparently, as many as 17 MILLION of these engines have defective cylinder heads that result in VIOLENT jettisons of spark plug(s). Covers 1997-2004 vehicles. NHTSA is investigating.

This has been a problem with the Modular motors since they came out. We have a 4. 6L in our Mercury Grand Marquis with no problems and 100K+. But I have talked to guys that have had their spark plugs blow out on these engines. The V10 is tough, loves its gas, but I would rather have the Cummins or 7. 3 over it anyday of the week.

Thanks for the heads up on the spark plug ejection issue. Mine is a 2005 so maybe it wont have this feature.

We couldn't find a 7. 3 with less than 60k on the OD.

I haven't filled the tank yet but the overhead on the freeway is 16+ mpg. Factor in that gas is 10% less than #2 (2. 99 vs. 3. 29 per gal. ) it is the same as 17. 6 mpg. (16 x 1. 1=17. 6) which is right what the Dodge dually gets.

I know I'm giving up 200 ft. lbs. of trq. But it will tow up to 9600 lbs. and hall all eight of us (+2 snow dogs) to the mountains for our bi-monthly snowmoble trips - something that took two trucks in the past. So fuel economy just went up again.

BTW I got this 05' Excursion (every option) with 16k miles for $28,400 - so when the warrenty is up I can convert it to a 5. 9 CTD for around $15k and still be under the price of a Mega Cab. Yes I've allready called Ford-Cummins!

If only Dodge made a CTD SUV. :(

Anyway the wife is happy... ... . and so am I.

thanx for the replies-dj

Hopefully its a good dependable truck for you DJ. Ford makes as good a vehicle as Dodge and Chevy does. I'm sure you will get years of good service out of it, as long as you take care of it ;)

Ya I think so to.

I'm out of town ALOTE so dependability (entire vehicle-not just motor) was pretty high on the list for her vehicle. ie - later model with lower miles and a warrenty. So said no to the 6. 0 and higher milage 7. 3's.

Excursion is the worst vehicle Consumer Reports has ever tested in it's history. Who is Ford-Cummins? Cummins makes Cummins and Dodge makes Powerjoke.

Do you have a link to these reports? Ford-Cummins is an aftermarket company that installs Cummins into Ford trucks and SUV's.

What do you mean Cummins makes Cummins and Dodge makes Powerjoke? International-Navistar makes the PStroke.

I subscribe to Consumer Reports magazine. The "Dodge makes Powerjokes" is a joke on powerstroke.
