AFAIK, the 53 blocks predate the 2001's... . But what do I know. I bought a 2002, and it seems I got the best combo I could have asked for in a 2nd Gen...

Good choice on getting the 6-speed. My wife can't drive a stick, so that was an obstacle for me too. Eventually she relented when I told her of the advantages:

1) better mileage.

2) Clutch cheaper than new Auto trans.

3) Stick will probably last longer.

So, until she can learn to drive the stick (yes I am teaching her-- WHAT A FOOL I AM:)) it is MY truck, or so she says.

I think that once a few BOMBS are on it though, she will probably want to drive it more.

Man you should have seen the:-{} fly when she told me she wanted an auto so she could talk on her cell phone!!!!!! (pet peeve of mine)

Congratulations CATCRACKER!

Now show her this thread

And on teaching manual transmission driving with a Cummins: It's kind of a disservice to the one learning the new skill. You don't have to use the throttle to keep from killing it---like all of us learned on the gassers know.

I put a 75-year-old lady behind the wheel of mine the other day. All she had to do was push in clutch, select gear, then release clutch--TOO EASY. ;)

my wife comes from the country she used to drive a 4speed carmengia (spelling?)she can handle the standard thing . i just dont like her driving my truck because she starts getting cocky sitting up so high it make me nervous. anyway she would rather ride around in her snobby looking infiniti i-35. i am glad b/c it keeps her out of my truck:) we need a smiley woman *****ing i think this smiliey woman would get alot of posts. update on the truck search the best deal i have found is 2002 7000 miles 2500 4x4 6spd qc swb slt for 25990 sold yesterday:( oh well i will keep trying if you all see any deals let me know thanks
