I've seen a few threads on this subject in the past, but I don't believe anyone ever found out the cause. Thought maybe by now a solution might have been found.
Most times, but not always, when starting my truck, a single chime occurs after releasing the key, and the brake light (the emergency brake IS set) and the ABS light are on. After a few seconds, the ABS light goes off and the brake light starts flashing. The brake light goes off once I release the emergency brake. I don't know if either of these lights are associated with the chime or not. I figure the ABS light is just part of the self test, which it must perform again after starting the engine.
I can live with the chime, but since it doesn't do it all the time, there must be something causing it and I would like to get it fixed.
Has anybody heard what the cause is? I've been to two dealers and I just get the blank stare. Then when I let them experience it, they say that all the trucks probably do it.
Thanks!
