Mystery part. Please help Identify.

I was under my 95 4x4 auto today cleaning out some stones which were trapped inside the frame and I pulled out a 3"x 7/8" steel strap with two 3/8" threaded studs (2" on center). The strap was pulled out of the drivers side frame near the rear transmission seal. It's similar to other blind bolt retainers DC uses, but with two studs. The only place I could find on the frame to match the holes are next to the forward motor mount. (this would be on the drivers side frame on the motor side, adjacent to the mount). If something was mounted there, it's gone now! Truck seems to drive OK. From the contition of the strap, it fell off a long time ago.

Anyone have any ideas? Would someone mind looking at their similar truck and see if anything is mounted on these two holes?

I have the same truck you have. The only thing in the area that it might be is the rebound pad over the front differential that prevents metal to metal contact from a hard bump in the road. This thing is mounted on the bottom of the frame rail below the motor mount. I don't see any spare holes so whatever it is I still have it or the holes weren't drilled in my frame. I have had the shock tower recall done so there is some welding on the outside of the frame where the shock tower reinforcement was done.

I did some more looking. The two holes I found that match my mystery part are actually drilled thru the frame into the engine support bracket. Maybe it was used to hold the bracket to the frame while welding it to the frame. The right side bracket is kind of hard to see, but it also has two holes thru it and into the frame.

Since the above reply I've looked around some more and may have found what it is. About 10" in front of the left rear spring and just about where the parking brake cable connector from one cable to two cables there are two 3/8" studs. These appear to fasten brake lines to the frame, but I can't tell for sure since the fuel tank is in the way. The function is probably to keep the brake lines from suffering vibration damage.

Thanks for helping with this.
Took a look back there, but found nothing missing. The only place the holes match seems to be under that front engine bracket which is welded to the frame.

If you ever figure out what it is, please let me know. I doubt that it was some sort of construction clamp. Threaded fasteners would be too slow to use for something like that.
