Not an issue for the 6-speed in my truck, but a friend started asking questions about improving downhill control while rock-crawling in automatic Jeeps (he has the newly available 4-speed in his Rubicon, I have the 3-speed).
I'm pretty sure I don't understand a lot of what I've read in past threads on the mystery switch, so I'll start with a generic question--is there some option, like the mystery switch or DTT smart controller, that would work in these trannies for this application? It sounds from these threads like lock-up (in the 47RE & 48RE) is only available in 2nd & above? With my 4. 3:1 transfer case, there are times I'd like better control while descending in 2nd, too, but 1st is also desireable.
Am I nuts in looking to transfer this technology from big diesels to little Jeeps? Anybody have any ideas or previous thoughts/experience on this?
