I have an '05, 3500 with the six speed standard, manufactured in 9/04, and plan to change the transmission and differential oil.

I'm getting conflicting data from two dealers as to type and quantity

for each. I pull a heavy trailer, so follow sched. B. Plan to use synthetic.

Would appreciate any advice as to specific types and brands.

Thanks much.

I would use the following AMSOIL:

MTFQT

Synthetic Synchromesh Transmission Fluid (5W-30): 9. 5 pints

SVOQT

SEVERE GEAR 75W-140 Synthetic EP Lubricant: 5. 3 pints to 7. 0 pints

This is what I use in my 2004. 5 3500 (I dont think there is any difference. The information above is straight from AMSOIL based on your truck.

I hope this helps, if you have any questions let me know. Have a great day and good luck.

I just recently changed my fluids out and i used 5 quarts of penzoil syncromesh and 6 quarts of mobile 1 75-90 for front and rear diffs. (both can be purchased at any local autozone.

Synchromesh from Penzoil can be had at Auto Zone for around $7 a quart.

You can also use Amsoil MTL and REDLINE MTL (available @ synlubes.com)

I have used Redline MTL with good success.
