Custom made by us, we have a new replacement one almost ready to go.

This one is crude but it has served it's purpose.

First shot.....

Dang, what an ugly tool:-laf

Not sure what ya call it, but it has something to do with updating the ECM with the engine shut off. It needs remote batteries and charger because the truck batteries wont run it long enough or something.....

This one really isn't fair, if you don't have trucks around with anti-idle heat sources you won't know what it is.

It is our test bench for Epsar Truck Cab Heaters.

It allows Brian (Our Thermo King Dude) to bench test the heaters without tying up a truck unit. We have a loaner Espar that can be swapped into the truck if needed while we troubleshoot the bad one.

It has it's own fuel cell (donated from an old company snowblower), fuel pump, circuit board, and wiring harness. Batteries for 12 volt power.

There is an Espar Test Connector (White Box) that ties it into the laptop so that all operations can be tried and tested.

They are a very fuel efficient heat source for a parked truck.

The new one

This is the new tester that we are building as we get time.

This will be called "The Espar Dyno!"...

Paint shop was spraying a gloss red truck the other day so we kicked this in there with Billy, he did a great job squirting it.....

This is the bench, two pieces of trailer flooring with a coat of floor restore on it. It will take all week for it to dry. A lot of techs make tops for their big rollaway tool boxes out of the trailer flooring.

Dirty fuel is the number 1 issue, they should be run on straight K-1 for a 1/2 hour or so once every season.

That will take care of any burner or glow pin issues before they can happen as a rule.

You have an occasional circuit board failure or something but for the most part they are pretty tough rigs.

One thing that we see a lot of is bad installs. People put the cold air return too close to the heat outlet so the air won't circulate and heat the bunk.

Mike. :)

Thanks for the K-1 tip I will do that because I dont want anything to go wrong with it. Its the best aftermarket deal I have put on my and the wifes rig. Even the in-laws that laughed at me and said we've done without for ever, they have put then on.

Word is that Thermo King Corporate wants pictures of the new Dyno once it is completed.

That is making Brian pretty happy... ... . :D:D

Thermo King's involvement is a result of the Espar heater being part of the entire Tri-Pac package that offers battery charging, block heating, cab heating and cab A/C when the truck is parked.

When you see one of these units in the video below hanging off the frame rail of a big truck then there will be an Espar heater under the bunk.....

Nice little video here. .

Very nice work! Was his original intent to use the wheel barrow tire, rather then the casters??:-laf
