Arizona Cummins/Duramax story

i've been wondering which of the b engines are killer b and super b and does the hpcr engines have a name as this. this has been bothering me for quite a while, so i decided to ask. thanx.

dt

The B is just cummins series letter the B is 5. 9 L the C series is 8. 3l the L series is 10 L the M series is 11 L the N series is 14 L. The Killer B and Super B are just fun cummins logos for hats and t-shirts that refer to the 5. 9 L.

The L series had been replaced with the M series. The new series all start with the letters IS, ISB,ISC,ISM,AND ISX.

The new B HPCR stands for High pressure common rail which refers to the new fuel system.

Hope this helps.

I met a cummins nut the other day, he's my bro-in-law's neighbor. He kept calling it a "250 Cummins". I had never heard it called that before.

I've seen the P-Pumped 12v referred to as the Killer B often.

Seems since the P-pump'd 12V was a true "B" Series, it takes to that nickname easily. The newer Cummins B-Series aren't just B-Series anymore. We have ISB, and ISB-e now...

Is there a nickname we can give the ISB-e ? (The "e" stands for Echo because fo the low dB of the engine)

Silent B?

Honey B?

Wanta B?

Super B?

Help me out here... :D

He was probably reffering to the 8. 3L that used to be installed in M-Series and other commerical applications. The "250" was the horsepower rating.

Makes sense. Although he was talking about the 5. 9 in Dodge pickups specifically. He has a bombed '96 and seems to know a lot more about these engines than I do... maybe just not what to call them.
