This is just an FYI and may help someone from chasing their tail.

I knew I needed to do a brake job on the front but thought I still had a bit of time. In any case the other day I heard metal to metal. The rotors had 265k on them so now that they were gouged I bought new rotors and went ahead and bought new calipers as well along with pads. Took the old off and put the new on no issues. Bled them and all seemed fine until the test drive. They felt a bit spongy so rebled. They still seemed a bit spongy but more importantly they smelled really bad. I know I really tested the brakes on the test drive but driver side seemed to be really hot. So last night I took it for another test drive and it definitely got very hot as in smokin hot. So I go home take the wheel off and let it cool down. Tear it apart and find that it is a bit difficult to get the caliper off the rotor (harder than I would expect as in too much clamping force from the pads. Didnt have any real problem getting them on but I had replaced the rotors so they were a loose fit when I put it together. In any case the caliper slides seemed ok as they slid just fine. Couldnt really see or find anything wrong. Put it back together and once I tightened up the mounting bracket bolts the rotor would not turn. Loosened the bracket bolts and it would turn freely. Took me a while to figure it out but the caliper slide bolts were different from the original ones, which I had noticed when I put them in (hex head vs the torx type head). Didnt pay it any mind when I put them in as I prefer the hex head anyway. As I was trying to figure out the issue I noticed the threads of the slide bolts appeared to be touching back of the pad. So I backed them out and tightened the mounting bracket bolts and rotor turned freely. So I pulled one of the slide bolts out looked at it and rememebred that I had kept the old ones for spares as I have had issues with them breaking in the past. The new ones were approx 3/8 of an inch longer. I replaced both on the drivers side with the old ones I had kept. All is fine now. The pass side caliper had the same type of slide bolts that had come out (torx head).

The other thing with the driver side caliper was the pad clips that came with that caliper were wrong also. The were way to small. took me a few minutes to figure out why I couldnt get them on but they were just too small. Fortunately the pads came with new clips as well so it was not a problem. However two wrong items in one box kind of sucks.

I suspect Napa will take care of replacing the bolts for new correct ones. I am not bashing my local NAPA and have always had great service and parts from them in the past and this will not affect my purchasing from them in the future but it will mean that I will check all new stuff against the old stuff from here on out.

This is just meant as an fyi.
