Has anyone used a front seal from Napa, says Chicago rawhide on it?? Just wondering if it is any good, local Cummins dealer counldn't get one for a couple of days and Napa had it in stock. . also lloks like I will be replacing the front gear housing thanks to a KDP that the previous owner did not tell me about... . He tried to fiberglass the crack by the looks of it and did one crapy job. . Oh well, just makes ya' wonder why people can't be honest. . Sorry about the babbling... Just like to know if the seal is as good as Cummins?? Thanks, marc

front seal

I have a hi miler and have had the seal replaced about 4 times , the last time I bought a seal from Cummins and it included a sleeve that fitted over the crank to compensate for wear, i don't know if other suppliers provide this but it is a good option if the crank surface has any wear that would shorten the life af a new seal. My experience is that if you spend the extra bucks for genuine Cummins it is worth it as many after market parts look like a savings but are not.

This has happened on several other parts such as, water pump, Auto Zone, lasted two weeks, bought cummins, thermostat, yo yo napa, returned, bought cummins, steady temp. After trying to rebuild vacuum pump I did purchase a rebuilt from napa as the original pump had a groove in the shaft and new lasted about 50,000 miles. good luck Stormy
