For this weekend (at least in Reno), NAPA Gold filters are 70% off! I got 4 oil filters, 2 fuel, and 2 air for $68. Not bad to go 20,000 miles!

Hey, that means the money you save on their fuel filters will help you buy new injectors. .

As I have said many times. . Wix (Napa Gold) fuel filters DO NOT meet OEM spec for the 03-07 5. 9L engines. It's your motor, but I wouldn't let those fuel filters anywhere near my truck!

Bosch Reccommends 5um
Dodge requires 7um
Wix are 8um...

There are only 3 filters that I know of that meet the OE spec

OEM/Fleetguard/Cummins: 7um
Donaldson P550800: 7um
Baldwin F7977/Hastings FF1260: 5um

I'm not using them in any of my vehicles except for the Durango. Works just fine here.

The Cummins has always used Fleetguard.

According to the NAPA site, the 3585XE is rated at 7um. Am I reading that incorrectly? I think they changed recently (in the last year or so). The 3585 said it was 10um with a paper media. If the filter doesn't meet spec, I won't use it.

Correct and incorrect. . It's 7um nominal, where 7um absolute is the OEM spec.

If you look at the beta ratio it says 20/75 = 6/8; that means its 6um at a beta ratio of 20, so 95% and 8um at a beta ratio of 75, so 98. 7%.

The OEM filter is 7um 98. 7%, and 5um at 96%.

The Wix is not as good as stock, and doesn't meet spec.

I was under the impression that it was more that just the nominal micron rating. I seem to recall that the high oil pressures of the Cummins caused certain oil filters (Fram) to come apart causing neoprene clogging in the oil ports?

Fram filters were, and some say still are, not very high quality. I personally wont run one! My gas Toyota actually ran more cold oil psi than my Cummins does, but a MUCH lower volume.

The Wix air and oil filters are decent, just don't use their fuel on a common rail.

OEM is 95% at 30um
The Wix "XE" version is 95% at 25um
The Amsoil/Donaldson is 100% at 20um, 98. 7% at 15um.
