Congratulation Packers Fans!

Watching the Super Bowl today, and is it just me or does anyone else think that rendition of the National Anthem is not the way it was written. That should be preformed the way it was written not the artist's choice. Most of the time the way they sing it sounds like someone killing a cat. CAN WE NOT PUT SOME KIND OF POLITICAL SLANT ON THIS :-laf it's not a Dumocrap or Retardican thing

As I said to my son, "At least she was dressed decent. " It was the only thing nice I could think of.

If you want to talk about utter lack of musical talent or value, we need to discuss the halftime debacle.

I would at least feel sorry for the cat... and the Country.

Maybe her being too concerned with "making it her own" caused her to screw up the lyrics. Note to ALL singers- the Anthem belongs to ALL of us- DON'T try to "make it your own"!

It was so bad... I quit listening. What lyrics did she screw up?

Get these kids to do it! Note the crowd it dead silent through the entire song. They don't start whooping it up half way through.

This will be a bit long, so please be patient. I have had the privilege of working security for 15 superbowls. My uncle owned the business so I mostly worked where I wanted. I also had the privilege of serving 8 yrs in the USAF, which I was in for the first 4 games. This has given special meaning to me when it comes to the National Anthem and Pledge or allegiance. Every year to this day, singing the anthem brings tears to my eyes. At a huge event like this, the performer is strongly encouraged to "make it their own" and not just sing it as written. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. This explains her near yodeling. Some like it, some (like myself) don't care for it. The mess up of the words was nothing more than nerves from being on THE biggest stage in the world. She said herself that she got so caught up in the moment she lost where she was. I can understand that. Unless you've been on the field for game day, you can't truly comprehend the excitement, electricity, and pressure of the Super Bowl. Just for security/crowd management, we would start moving people in for hiring and site prep in early November. This is the biggest event in the world, even bigger than the Olympics. To finish, I am not a fan of Christina Aguillera, not her singing style or life style. But, I can give her a break for being nervous for the biggest performance of her life and completely understand how she could get caught up in the moment.

She took it for granted; it was all about "her"

I have heard military choirs do outstanding renditions of the Anthem. They do it from the heart and with respect. The SuperBowl organizers should entrust it to one of them. They have certainly earned the right and there would be zero controversy or criticism. Like the Flag, it would be in the best possible hands.

That woman yesterday obviously did not take her responsibility to do honor to that song seriously enough to practice it enough beforehand. It's as simple as that. She didn't even bother to fix her hair. It was obvious to me that whoever selected her was the same idiot who chose the halftime flakes. Disgusting and insulting.

I make it a point to NOT listen to the idiot that sings the national anthem at major sport events. It usually just makes me angry.

I really don't care if the singer is encouraged to "make it their own". It is NOT their own. As previously stated, it belongs to ALL of us.

The Star Spangled Banner is a difficult song to sing. And if the singer does not have the range to sing it, they should turn the offer down.

Although difficult to sing, the national anthem CAN be sung with reverence, with feeling, and inspiration. It is NOT a hip hop song. It is NOT a rap song. It is NOT jazz. It is NOT a country and western song.

Back when I first started playing piano back in the '60s, there was a piece of sheet music in the bench, the Star Spangled Banner, simplified arrangement for the piano by Angela Diller (c. 1942 or so). Maybe 10 years ago, it occurred to me that that 'simplified arrangement' was really four voices. (If I had to guess, they'd be bass, contra-bass, tenor & alto. ) With practice, I can sing any of the parts; my fingers have been playing them for 40+ years. It's a wonderful harmony (except for *one* chord near the end). *That's* what I expect to hear when I hear our national anthem.

'Make it your own?' The NFL are wrong. Our national anthem should be performed with due reverence and care. But I guess since the (defunct) republic is a laughing stock, it's only reasonable that 'artists', and all of us, be encouraged to mock the republic at all turns.

We didn't even turn the TV on this weekend. If my eyes hadn't paused on the sports page in passing, I wouldn't know who won.

I'm sick and tired of these no talent broads making our "National Anthem" - - "Their own" and completely screwing it up - - Their own, My a*****$

After hearing the Cactus Cuties a couple years ago on here, and Via you tube, That, in my opinion is the Best I have ever heard that song sung.

Are they still around and singing together???? I have wondered why they were not used on the stage in these type events more. For as young as these kids were they are the best.

I agree the National Anthem stunk so did a DJ from a Tampa radio station. Matter of fact he wouldn't play it! He did suggest she should of recorded the Natonal Anthem and lip sinked it at the game not that would of helped it to sound any better. :{#@$%!
