Nav Updating Question

I just ordered and impatiently waiting for delivery of a 2016 Ram 3500 with the Navigation system. Just wondering how do you update the maps and information on a regular basis? Do you connect it to a computer through the USB Port or do you have to take it into a dealer to do it and then get charged a service fee?

I currently have a Garmin GPS that I can update myself through the my computer once a year and wondering how the one mounted in the truck is updated?

The dealer can and will update it. I have it done every time I go in for an oil and filter. Some dealers will charge you, my service manager says he doesn't and will update any and all current programing.

Wrong, I had to get new update that had been out for a month before i bought my jeep, and
my jeep was on the train when i bought it

everything was updated to a newer version of the Nav. and uconnect, dealer acted dumb until i told i had went on line and found that there was a new version out and needed the update

Map updates can be purchased HERE.

They come on a thumb drive and it takes about 45 minutes to perform the update.

Software updates are covered under the 3/36 basic warranty-map-updates are generally a customer cost

For my 09, the NAV update is a new CD. After updating once, I found the new info not worth the $$$.
