Garmin

Garmin has a couple auto routing units that are reasonably priced and very portable.

Here is there newest one: http://www.garmin.com/products/sp2610_2650/index.jsp

And here is one that has been around a few years: http://www.garmin.com/products/spIII/

At work we have a dozen or more of the Street Pillot III. They work very well. We have left ND for trips out over 1400 miles with no maps (all new roads and places) and never got lost. Maps are very good. Autorouting is very good. They talk to you so you don't have to take yours eyes off the road nor miss any turns.

I like the ability to upload new maps as they become available.

Second on the Garmin Street pilots. I have the older color map which does not do auto routing but well worth the price and the portabilty is great other wise I would go with the factory Dodge unit (does that fit the 2nd gen?) or the Alpine unit.

DeLorme Is what i use on the laptop. SWEET repositioning capabilities.

*Edit*

If I may add that it costs 129. 00 and you have the convienience of your laptop with you as well. Out of site when ya take it with you hence keeping sticky finger freddy off your stuff. PLUS it can tell you what stores are near you a a moments glance (Over 4. 3 Million and growing)

Compaq iPAQ

I'm using my Compaq iPAQ handheld PDA with NAVMAN for my GPS. My business has me going to several different homes a day and this NAVMAN really works well. Plus I can still use the PDA for scheduling, contacts, and a wealth of other activities. I bought everything listed above at CompUSA.

Yeah My Ipaq wanted nothing to do with any substantial software. (Ipaq 3690) So the Compaq Notebook (Which just so happens also is a DvD player) Worked out for me a million to one.

Plus with a 14" screen ya can't loose.
