I've been very strongly considering the NEW navigation system on for my '06 Ram 3500 order... but it is very expensive--$2000.

I absolutely love the large display and ease of use... and the sound of the system is phenomenal.

Do any of the lesser audio systems compare? Can I only get the 7 speaker system with the Navigation system? If the price difference between a comparable sounding factory system and the nav system is "only" $1000 or so... then it probably isn't worth downgrading to me.

Thank you,

Mike

For the fact that it gives you the GPS and the 6 disc changer in dash I would get it; if nothing else down the road you can sell it on E-bay... Also it is set up to tie into the rear DVD system and all so I would think it would make doing something down the road a lot easier..... Are you sure it is 2K though that sounds a but high... .

i just ordered one for my durango from united radio in syracuse ny you can get the radio for what the dealer pays and they have them in stock . when i worked for dealer this is who we got them from they ship the same day you only pay tax no freight charge they send it next day air you also get warranty from factory but you must take invoice to dealer so they can change sales code for truck the # is 18004480944 ask for radio sales , these people do the warranty for most dealers in ny good luck jeff

I've got one ordered in my '06 that's on it's way. In looking at some pictures of it it almost appears it could be touch-screen? I'm thinking NOT because Dodge would advertise that fact BUT who knows? Is it?

By the way it's not $2000, but $1500 and change for it at teh MSRP level.

When I got my 04. 5 a year ago last July, I had the factory GPS installed what a POS. $900 down the tube. Since then I heard they were going to redo the software for another $300. No Alaska, real weak Canada and wow it even had Hawaii on it. I was then going to get a Garmin 2610 and put on the dashboard on the beanbag mount. Then I got to thinking I can't see a 2"x3" screen from 2 1/2 feet anyway. After some thought and checking around I discovered the Garmin GPS18 USB,mine was $150 and right now at Circuit city it's about $98. This thing is about the size of a snuff can and attaches to USB port on your Laptop computer. I also chose a Avertec 12" laptop for it's compact design and really light weight. This software also has the whole US,Canada and Alaska. I took this out to my 04. 5 Dually and made an easily removable table that will swivel to the driver or the person in the right seat. This really worked slick on my trip down from Alaska to Yuma this October. I would take the Laptop in at night and work on the next days trip or change some of the waypoints I had marked in that day. This thing talks to you when you need to turn and you don't have to look only listen. For instance when you come in at night you ask it where are the campgrounds within what ever the radius you set in and it will list them with phone numbers and click on "route to it" and go. I was so impressed with this setup. This I can take in the house and do my regular business and to any other vehicle if needed. It wont go with the truck as a factory installed one would. I still have chapped BUTT over the factory installed POS and the way dealer claimed they did not know what the GPS would do. And would do nothing about it. I also found out that if you were navigating with the gps you could not use your CD player.

Get a TomTom... I got the 300 model and it is the bomb! Touch screen display, so easy to navigate my best friend could use it (and his house cost $500 if that tells ya anything).

I forced my brother to take it on his trip from Memphis to Dallas. He came back and said it was the best device ever! Saved 'em multiple times.
