You mean the Mopar system or a GPS mounted in a truck? I use the Garmin GPS3+ in mine.

sorry, the mopar system. I saw it in a durango today. fits in the same spot as the stereo, and you can get sirrus also.

No, but I am seriously considering getting it. I like the fit. Not sure if it can play CDs while using the GPS or if you need a changer (does it support a changer?) Pricey though. My dealer wanted around $1600 for it, and I think that is considerably below list.

mine told me 1500. 00 it says dvd where you load the disk in, I think you need a changer to listen to cd and view nav. you can add sirrus to it also.

My wife has one in the Honda. Acura also uses the same unit. It is pretty sweat. It is really nice provided you are in the coverage area for the DVD. Our DVD is mostly the west code and some other selected cities. The system speaks to you through the radio. It is controled by a touch screen and a couple of buttons.

User Interface here key. The one honda has seems pretty easy. If you get a bad user interface it will be nothing but trouble even if it has the best map around.

Would like to know more about the Navigation Radio. Ordered the StreetPilot 111 yesterday. Did I make a mistake? Where can I get more information? Thanks

Alpine GPS

I've been using the Alpine GPS SatNav system (both in the USA and now in Europe), which is fully integrated with the rest of my ICE bomb installed in my '01 3500 and it's been working flawlessly for almost three years.

BTW, all the mainstream audio manufacturers are now working on the next generation of intelligent ICE systems, incorporating the best of AV, MP3, XM Satellite, requiring the support of higher databus speeds and eventually full integration with 2. 5G/3G Cellular technology.

Theoretically, the stuff that's out there right now is approaching the end of it's active sales lifecycle, so should be priced accordingly..... How forward thinking is the Mopar unit I wonder, was it designed and able to take advantage of these ICE improvements, or is it staring obsolescence in the face? Just might be worth asking... ...

Try MOPAR themselves?

... ... well, the dealer who is trying to sell the TDR member the GPS product from MOPAR for starters, and the response should indicate if any questions remain unanswered and if not, at least point him in the right direction for these answers plus any supplementary, open leading questions of course :D:D

well the stealer only knows what the brochure tells him,you need to talk to someone like yourself who seems to know about these systems and can ask the right ? I am knew to these systems,I have furuno gps chartplotter on my boat but thats a different animal

If the Stealer is claiming the 5th Amendment, then it may be worthwhile checking the different audio manufacturers' websites and making some quick but objective comparisons on the various product trends I've mentioned previously in this thread. You'll only need to check a handful to get a good indication of what's in store... . I would suggest Pioneer, Clarion and Alpine are as good as any.

See what the specs of their equivalent ICE systems are (wrt GPS support which is what this thread started out from) and then make an objective comparison with the MOPAR stuff. If the Stealer is worth everyone of his 5stars he should be doing this for you already, so that he can provide you, the valued customer, with some compelling reasons for why Brand X rather than Brand Y etc, etc.

just talked to dealer, said it is an alpine system, can also hook up to satilite radio, and cd changer same size as stock radio. will do same price as other dealer-10% not bad, plug in install 1/2 hour

Task125, Do you know how big the screen is on the Mopar unit? The StreetPilot 111 has a very small screen, 1. 8"X3. 4". I followed JohnMcIntyre's advice and ran a search on Pioneer. It has a 6. 5" screen and does a whole lot more, voice input, output, DVD movies, and more. I want something that looks factory as well as being state of the art. I'm still researching the other two companies that JohnMc. mentioned. Think I'll send my StreetPilot back when it comes tomorrow. Let us know if you decide to go with the Mopar unit.

nkiewel, Thanks for the URL. The 4. 1" screen is small and I didn't realize the unit had voice commands. Looks like a neat installation and price is much better than the Pioneer. Certainly back on my list of possibilities.
