Thanks, TDR Staff

Should I be scared of a used fiver hitch?

Looked at your TT / 5er brake wiring lately?

For my an 02, 4x4,auto,3500 with a Lance 1030, loaded about 12000lbs. Are there any absolutely necessary upgrades to fluids, guages etc. for Southwest travel?

I use air bags when hauling the cabover. The ride is much better. They work very well for anti side to side sway and in balancing the extra weight on the rear suspension. Keep the air filler tubes separate so the side to side sway is minimized. Air Lift and Firestone make sturdy products. Make sure you get the kit for the 3" leaf springs.

Yep, the air bags help the ride and Rancho adjustable shocks will help a lot with sway. Also I ran 80 PSI in my rear tires to lessen the sidewall "squirm". Your 3500 DRW will do a very good job hauling a Lance 1130.

I hauled a Lance 1140 for thousands of miles on a '00 3500 DRW with air bags, on-board air compressor and gauges, and Rancho 9000 shocks with no problems.

If you haven't already done it, change out the OEM rubber/brass tire valve stems for steel ones. Any truck tire shop can do it for you. I had one of the OEM valve stems fail going down the interstate at 65 MPH with the Lance 1140 on board.
