Check out the readers sig to see what I have. The question is this: With all the mods that are done to my truck I thought that I would be a lot faster then my father in-laws 04 (not the 4. 5) 2500 H. O. 4x4 48re 3. 73 gears bone stock except for the edge ez. So the Edge is the only BOMB that he has done to the truck. He's still running stock wheels and tires. When we raced last night it was dead even. We both had our edge box all the way up. Are my 315's making a big difference with my over all speed? Why aren't I pulling him? Any Ideas

Looks to me that all you have over him is intake and exhaust mods. That's gonna make you spool up a little quicker but the amount of power it adds isn't huge... probably about just enough to counteract the 315's vs his stock tires. You guys should be about even, IMO.

Seems like most posts say exhaust and air do nothing for speed? Why spend the $$$$? Doc

Because as soon as you add a substantial amount of more fuel and more air, the intake and exhaust are practically required to keep EGT's in check. Even on a stock truck EGT's can be lower with intake and exhaust, even if the truck isn't any faster, especially when towing.

They also sound WAY COOL over stock!P. S. The exhaust mods I made were a instant 1 to 2 mpg increase.

I thought that it would be the tires. I know with the exhaust and intake I am about 75f cooler just driving around and WOT it takes a long time to get up to the hot temps. I noticed a big difference (temp wise) with those mods. And yes my truck sounds amazing Just took out the silencer ring yesterday and that sounds pretty good to.

I say be glad you have a father-in-law that likes to race. He could hate you for stealing his daughter away or tell you that you will never amount to anything. Now if you can get him to lay some money down on the racing...
