2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Need 315/75/16

Ever since I started this hobby of CTD trucks(2001), I have liked the 315/75/16 tire size. Now a days a set of those tires are all at about $1,000. I cannot justify that kind of moneys on tires right now, so this is my cry for help.



Anyone have a line on a used set, a place to by retreads, a off brand that doesn't cost that kind of money but will still last more that 20k miles, or ANY DATA ON GETTING THAT SIZE TIRE ON MY TRUCK FOR ABOUT $500. they could possibly be a summer set of tires, I have a good set of 265's on it now. Used tires online, maybe ebay. any data will help. please!!, and thanks!!!

Check out tires-easy.com they sell quite an assortment in that size. May have something that meets you requirements.

I am also a fan and use the 315's on my truck,but,you are right on the cost factor being high. The problem is as the oilrices goup and up,so do the tire prices. the 315's on my truck which I bought three years ago(Pro-Comp Extreme M/T's)cost me a bit over $800 and today's market has them now at nearly $1200. I have gotten almost 50k out of them and they are showing signs they need replaced now. The cost will be high,no doubt,but I am going to bite the bullet and buy a brand name again as I do not want a cheaper tire just for the size as I do not want to have them wear faster. While up front cost may be a tad high,in the long run if you have to use two sets of the cheaper tires instead of using one good set the cost will alot higher... ... Andy

Thanks for the replies. I looked at the tire-easy site. Great prices, but when I add in tax and shipping the tire will still be over $900. I was really hope a member in TDR land had a set the wanted to get rid of, or a member went with bigger or smaller or different brand. But, again thanks for the replies and I hope to get more and more data of cheap tires.

If I am not mistaken, the 315/15/16s are approximately the same as a 35x12. 5x16. You may be able to widen your search if you include that size. If you don't mind mild mud tires, used military hummer wheels and tires are readily availible, cheap. I believe they are 35x12. 5x16. 5. Good luck

"Shipping is FREE" I've had two sets of Nittos. First set were the Terra Grapplers which now are $7 more than the Dune Grapplers? When I got the Dunes they were $5 more than the Terras? Anyway I got just over 50 k on the 1st set - I beat them pretty good, power braking, not rotating and balancing enough etc. Was so happy with them I went with the Dunes - presently have around 30k on them and they're holding up excellently. AND I kept the 2 Terras from the front for drag racing, well that's the plan as soon as I find 2 extra wheels.



Oh, note they are Load Range "E" as well. I just had 2400 # of sack-crete in the bed over the weekend, pumped them up to 58# and aired them back down to 48 after the load was off.



If you insist on the 315s they'll set you back $209 each. So they're $18 each more - your call. They're pretty sharp looking (MHO) and you have the choice of two different fonts of lettering - based on which side faces out. No I don't own stock in Nittos :-laf- Just sharing my good experiences



When I'm ready for another set they'll be Nittos.

Down hear in Florida, a lot of guys put them on swamp buggies until they can get aggriculture tires. That's what we did. If you are a member of an off road club or have a friend who is, they can usualy get the hook up. I will make a few phone calls and see if I can find outdown here. They might have a connection for military tires in your area.



On a side note, I would be very causious about purchasing old tires. I would not run dry rotted or tires that are too old on the highway. I would not have a problem purchasing used tires with decent tread left, if they are in good condition.

How does a 315/75-R16 tire fit on a stock truck with the OEM aluminum wheels? I realize there is gonna be some rubbing on the lower track bar but how much and how bad without adding a leveling kit?



I am currently running 295/75-R16 BFG's with some minor rubbing on the lower track bar on sharp turns.

Here are some #s just to compare;

The 315 tire is 878. 9mm(34. 6 inches) tall, and 12. 4 inches wide.

The 295 tire is 848. 9mm(33. 4 inches) tall, and 11. 6 inches wide.



I have owned 4 second gen 4x4 trucks, and ALL 4 have had 315/75r16 tires of different brands. 2 trucks that were 2001's and 2 trucks that were 2002's and in my opinion your 295 tires are so close in size and shape that if you get your 315/75r16 tires mounted on factory wheels you will be happy. I always was happy and never paid much attention of the slight scrub when wheels were at full lock. Good luck!!

I am not a fan of the 33" tires(285/75-305/70)which was why I went to the taller 35's.
I am now searching for some replacements also and trying to find a tire which I do not see on trucks at the local shows.

I am thinking about trading up from my 285s (BFG All Terrains) to a set of 315s that will float better in sand under lower pressure. MY 285s have less than 12k on them and are if flawless condition with well over 3/4 tread left. Contact me if interested.
