I get a loud annoyning, groaning sound when I trun my wheel to the left and it's starting to drive me nuts. Believe the noise is being caused by the "plastic" bearing at the firewall end of the steering column. Have replaced every part in the front suspension and steering systems at one time or another except for the column; so I'm sure that's where the noise is coming from. Anybody have any comments, suggestions or experience with this symptom??
What I am looking for is a used steering column so I can take it apart and machine some type of bearing to replace the "plastic" stock one. I am looking for a used one so I don't have my truck out of service long. I'm not sure what is going to be envolved in this project and it may take some time.
Can anybody help me out with a used column that they had replaced or maybe one out of a wrecked or junked truck?? Will gladly pay shipping or pick up if in my area.
