A bud in the office with an '01 has the tip-out towing mirrors. He's been experiencing some problems adjusting them from tipped-out for towing mode to non-towing mode and back. Apparently, these can only be adjusted manually by brute force. However lately, they've been getting pretty stiff and has even broken the glass on one trying to adjust it.

His questions are, is there a way to pop the glass out so that he can clean and lubricate the ball or gimbal mechanism that allows adjustment, and is there a common problem with these he can address to free up the mechanism so he can adjust them without breaking the glass?

Thanks in advance,

-Jay

He can buy a set of 3rd gen power heat mirrors, swap the heads and he will have power/heat tow mirrors on his 01 (do a thread search on tow mirror swap)

Im not sure if there is a way to lube the mirrors.

I was able to lubricate mine. I moved the mirror one way as far as I could get it and used a spray lube with the straw attachment. Then moved it down and sprayed it again. It did make an improvement to the point that now I can adjust the mirrors without breaking or pulling the glass loose from the mirror head. Not perfect just better.
