Need a little help with an Injector pump on 6310 John Deere

My injector pump on my tractor has spit the bit and I am having a little trouble getting the gear off. It has the standard inspection cover on the gear cover. Remove the nut and washer and put a bolt type puller on it. It has a half moon key but I can't see it or get to it. I tried a the puller but I couldn't get it to budge. I just bent my bolts in the puller.



Any help would be appreciated.

This is a parts manual, but it does show a tapered shaft.
