Back in Oct. service engine light comes on truck. Took truck in and was told it was emissions related to catalyst but required a software update before catalyst would need replacing. Ran fine no problems for till after first of the year light comes back on. Took truck back in and they ran codes said need catalyst replaced, but they didn't have a diesel mechanic in the shop that could do warranty repairs. I took to another dealership they ran codes and replaced the catalyst. This was around 1st of Feb. and on the 5th of March the light came back on while I was out on the road, when I got back I took it today and this is what they told me. I question if this really right or are they trying to get next to me.

Truck is 2013 3500 with 60,000 miles. Today's code was P2201 Nox sensor Part # 68210084AA $699.00 Plus another $200 for labor. Says this isn't covered by warranty.

Anybody else ran into this issue how did you deal with it.

Thanks

I think it should be covered under the emissions warranty. Its part of the emissions control on the vehicle which is required to work to pass inspection.

You need to see what the emissions warranty is on your truck, specifically. It should be posted in your owners manual. Without knowing all of the details and particular points of your problem I'd assume that the Federal emissions warranty would apply in this case.

They told me it isn't part of the Federal emission warranty, that it is just part of the standard emission warranty that runs out at 50,000 miles. Also told me it was back ordered and would be a month at least before it was available. I was hoping Sag or Bob would chime in.

Ok so I have went and read a little more on this. Here is the link for the warranty on this truck. http://www.ramtrucks.com/shared/pdf/warranty/2013_Diesel_Warranty.pdf

Best I can tell 99% of all the great emission junk is only warrantied for 50,000 miles.

So two questions here.

1) Is there another source for these.
2) Is it easy to replace. (like an oil pressure sensor that you just unscrew and unplug)
3) Is it time to delete all of this junk.

The dealer can print out a report that will show you if it is or is not covered.Black and white no grey area.If I was in your shoes I would have them do it,if the code comes back it is on them. The replacement is not as easy as it sounds. The easiest way to get to it is by removing the pass. side fender liner. The sensor has the module hard wired to it(explaining the price) and it all mounts up in an awkward place on the side of the engine.Any sensor in the exhaust has the possibility of being siezed in it's mounting bung

I have a 2013 2500 that keeps getting a P 2201 code. I probably need the NOx sensor replaced. I have Max Care.

Sorry I don't remember if max care covers it

Some emissions aren't covered under max care. But i have 28,050 miles and less than 4 years on my emissions warranty. That's what I'm banking on. (Fed Emissions, hopefully). It would be difficult for them to claim bad DEF. Been using Mopar DEF for a year. And very careful when putting it in

3 1/2 years approximately on Fed Emissions warranty. Bought the truck 9/18/13.

Thanks Bob

1 more question If the code came up on the original service ticket and that was prior to the truck having 50,000 miles would I have a leg to stand on calling star for help?
